New Server Updates...

Whon

Tribe of Judah Left 4 Dead Chapter Leader
I've been working on the server this weekend and I've gotten Metamod and SourceMod working again on the server. I've also taken the time to add a few plugins that I thought would be entertaining for us. I can remove any of these if we don't like the changes. Here's a list of things different on our server now:

  1. Swear filter - just a basic filter that subs the typed text to something more funny. I may alter the substitution texts later.
  2. Pause - This really only effects VS as only admins can pause co-op, but if one person types "!pause" on both teams it will pause the game, then "!unpause" will resume play.
  3. Gun Control - this allows the M60 and the Grenade launcher to be able to be reloaded at ammo dumps. (I've never liked the idea of not being able to reload this when there are full ammo dumps)
  4. Jockey Jump - Now the jockey can now force the pounced survivor to jump on command.
  5. Snare Speak - I'm going to direct quote the author for this one. "Snare Speak enables voice-chat across team boundaries when a survivor is subdued by an infected. The infected that snared the survivor can speak to the snared survivor, and the snared survivor can speak to the infected that snared him. This does not destroy the connection a player has with his own team, it only creates an additional duplex channel between the snaring infected and the survivor. This lasts the duration of the snare, and then the communication channel is closed."
  6. Custom Skin Mod - if you type "!csm" in chat you can change your skin of the survivor. Even L4D1 models are listed, though your voice commands will still be the same as your original survivor.
  7. Super Versus - I still have to test this will real players, but if we would like we can play co-op with more then 4 survivors now. I've played with 8, which is our server max, but they were all bots and I'm not sure yet if we can get 8 actually people in game for co-op.
Now, I've tested some, but not all of these. I hope this can mix up our game play at make us have some more fun.

Gun Control - this allows the M60 and the Grenade launcher to be able to be reloaded at ammo dumps. (I've never liked the idea of not being able to reload this when there are full ammo dumps)
I dig it.

Jockey Jump - Now the jockey can now force the pounced survivor to jump on command.
This makes the Jockey considerably more fun to play (powerful) in certain areas. I like this.

Never was a fan of this since I could potentially be coordinating an attack with my team while I have a survivor ensnared. Not to mention, the only reason I see for this is to gloat or harass. I try not to do either.
**Note that this is my opinion and should be regarded as nothing more**

Super Versus - I still have to test this will real players, but if we would like we can play co-op with more then 4 survivors now. I've played with 8, which is our server max, but they were all bots and I'm not sure yet if we can get 8 actually people in game for co-op.
This sounds like fun.

Glad to hear Tiffany (our L4D2 server) behaved long enough to set up SourceMod, Metamod: Source, and the plugins.

I'm looking forward to trying out the new stuff!
