New Mountain Bike

Bowser

Tribe of Judah StarCraft Series Chapter Leader
I purchased a new mountain bike today!

Here's a couple of pictures of it. Bike, Bike 2.

It's a 2007 Kona Kikapu priced right at $999.

Take a look at the specs of the bike at the official website.

A little bit later on I would like to get Shimano shoes and clips for it.

It also seems to be missing the basket on the front and the sparkly streamers on the handle bar. Maybe that was out of the budget.:p

WOW, two wheel disc brakes, does that come with ABS at a grand? And I have to agree with Goblit, if you couldn't afford the sport streamer package, 4 wheel option with the upgraded cargo package this bike was outside your budget.

Teb's real new bike

What do people in Texas need a mountain bike for. Do they know what a hill is let alone a mountain. LOL nice bike Bowser, while it is still under warranty take it to Moab If it stays together you know you made a good buy if not, then its still under warranty right.

Whats the durability on your epic bike? Is it uncrushable with Holy handbrakes activated? And what gems did you go for in the sprockets...

Yeah, seriously. I've lived in North Texas, where the highest point in the region is the roof on Billy Ray McAllister's new double-decker mobile home.

Actually, I think the highest point is probably on some of those gi-normous fire ant hills. So does this mean Tebran is now riding the fire ant trails?

Be sure to bring along the Bactine.

I bought the bike so I can be totally prepared when I enter the Air Force, silly! When I'm stationed abroad I'll have it with me so I can participate in the climbs and rides elsewhere. :D

I am going to laugh if you get stationed back in Texas :P The Air Force does send people to some really horrid areas, such as where I am now.

But you can also find some really scenic duty posts - like Diego Garcia, or Adak, AK. :D

Actually, Icthus and I have a good friend who is a chaplain in the AF who's been stationed at Hickam AFB on Oahu for the past 3 years. So, yeah, you've got some nice options, too.

(BTW Icthus, did you know Bob is deploying to Iraq later this year? I just found out when we were there a couple weeks ago. He's pretty 'jazzed' about it.)

Is there much USAF left in Texas? They closed Bergstrom in Austin and Brooks in SA ... what's left? I thought TX has mostly gone Army with massive Ft. Hood.

I think USAF I think Colorado (lotsa hills), the Dakotas (lotsa ... um, I'll get back to you on that), Cali/Vandenberg (very hilly), Cali/Edwards (not so hilly), Florida/Cape (sell bike, buy jetski), Nevada/Nellis (need bike to keep up with the White Jeeps and Black Helicopters at Area 51), Florida/Eglin (need bike to escape the crocodiles...), Mass/Hanscom (need bike to escape the Taxachussetts revenue collectors...).....

Don't forget sunny AZ - Luke AFB (F-16s) and something down in Tucson which is more or less a missle museum at this point IIRC. Bike good...rattlesnakes bad...mmmkay. A few years ago there was a guy riding on a trail that I was on...finishing up as I was starting...supposedly (so he claims) he ran over one which sunk its teeth into his tire and went around for a few turns of the wheel...funfunfunfun

are you in AZ NattyG? Davis Monthan AFB is down here in tucson, mostly A-10s and a whole bunch of planes kept in the storage yard that get shipped off when there is a war for spare parts hehe. Missile museum sounds like Titan missile museum, down around green valley south of tucson.
