New Monitor

I'm in the market for a new monitor, and I was wondering if anyone had a suggestions. I'll probably spend up to $200 once I gather the money, and wanted to know if anyone had any particular good/bad experiences with a certain brand of LCD. I found a ViewSonic 19" Widescreen on ZipZoomFly for about $200 and it looks good to me, but I don't know much about the technicalities of the monitor itself. Help meh!

Viewsonic is a good brand.
I have had 2 dell lcd's. Right now I have a 2 gateways. Post your model number of your lcd and I can give a much better review of it.
Most newer models you don't have to worry about ghosting they have a fast refresh rate. 16ms or less is best.
Then your contrast ration is a concern. Whether it's listed as black to black or grey to grey. A common is around 600 but 1000 or higher is best.
Another thing is the dead pixel issue. Some only replace it there is 8 or more dead pixels or three in an area the size of a quarter.
Are you confused yet?

Frankly? Until LCD's come with decent dead pixel replacement warranties(aka one dead pixel and it gets replaced during the warranty period) and doesn't cost a fortune for it i'll stick with crt's.

Well I was looking for a CRT but have yet to find one in a store, or on the web, but I only looked for a few minutes. Moving + work is killing all my time.

Edit: This is the monitor I'm looking at now. I would honestly prefer an LCD just because of the space. But really if there a recommendations on either LCD (preferably widescreen) or CRT that would be cool.

We've had probably five LCDs in our household so far, and only one of them had a dead pixel (it was stuck on green). I tapped on it a little bit and it was fixed. :p

But I agree -- if you have the room, I'd go for a CRT. =)

I used to be CRT-only. In fact, where I work, so many 19" flat-screen (not flat panel) CRTs are being thrown away I've got my pick. But I just went to an Envision 22" CRT, and with the energy it saves, as well as the widescreen viewing of DVDs and TV shows, it's awesome. LCD used to be junk, but they've improved, and the bonus $$$ saved on energy (and the lower overall weight if I have to move it around) makes it worth it.
