New FPS or Strategy?

Hey all,

So I was wondering which FPS and strategy games everyone is playing these days? I've heard decent things about Titanfall (though the level of violence is a bit suspect for me) and Mass Effect 3, but thought I'd ask for opinions from some more seasoned gamers. :) Any suggestions?

Thanks,

-TC

Um Team Fortress 2. I am completely unbiased of course (done look at my title, DON"T LOOK :P ) . Still getting a decent amount of players on Toj TF2 Tuesday 8:30 central IP 64.74.97.17:27015 if you'd like to join us sometime. As far as objectionable content there are a couple words, Jarate is inane (pee in a bottle), cartoonish gore and crates which amount to completely optional gambling but compared to most FPSs it's fairly tame. If you've never played it it is also free to play so no money out of pocket.

You could also try Unreal 3 as Toj has some players who play it Monday. Not sure how busy they are, as I don't attend, but I thought I'd give them a shout out. It's a darker more violent game but I don't think (don't quote me) it had any language in the multiplayer part.

Anywho that's all I got. Not into all the new kids CODs and Mackerels :p .

Well, I was blissfully unaware until this very moment. . .thanks.

I've been playing CS:GO but not really with anyone I know. I also play a fair amount of WarThunder (flight sim) also not with anyone I know. And I'm still playing Skyrim, which isn't multi-player.

On the occasional Tuesday, when it strikes my fancy, I'll join the TOJ folks in TF2.

Last I heard, Hescominsoon plays Warframe. Maybe HCS could provide a mini-review of the game?

And I second the vote for TF2. Just spend at little time and attention on crafting and trading (unless that's your thing and then, hey, more power to ya) and ignore the crates altogether. I only play TF2 on the ToJ server on Tuesday nights now, but the fact that people still play it at all is pretty impressive considering the game is OVER SEVEN YEARS OLD. But it's still fun!

The games industry doesn't seem terribly interested in creating multiplayer FPS that aren't Call of Honor: Battleduty Triple Dog Dare Secret Shoot 'Em Up Bang Bang Man 12. Though the new Unreal Tournament game looks promising. Mostly_Harmless could tell you about that. At length. (And I hope he does; I just read his posts to stay current on UT developments.)

As for strategy, well, there's StarCraft II and...MOBAs. And Civ V. And Total War II. And...I think that's about it? Of that bunch, I'd recommend SC2. Maybe Bowser a.k.a. Eskunu could tell you where the cool kids play SC2 these days.

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. Only. Always.

Also, Warcraft III. Because Warcraft. (I actually love Starcraft II a whole lot.)

Haha wow, thanks for all the suggestions. I've reinstalled TF2 and WoW, and also bought StarCraft II and am having a blast playing Protoss. Is there a large Christian presence on a single server in WoW? I know of BHS, Narrow Path, SOLA, Redeemed, and The Forgiven, but it seems like most of us are scattered around. It would be cool to unify all of the guilds into one giant one so we could organize larger events. Thinking about trying Skyrim as well but it's single player. Is there a "main game" that everyone in CGA plays together a lot?

TF2 is more fun for people who can't aim. Like me.
It was... late... when I wrote that. I forgot that my "speak. with. finality" Kirkian-style isn't always caught in the non-serious manner I mean it (whether or not you caught it; others may have missed it). haha

TF2 is awesome, and the go-to game for a lot of people for really good reasons. :D

LOL don't feel bad Tek7, I'm a terrible aim myself. I don't know how some people can just land every. Single. Shot. Perfectly. Every time. It is very humbling. xD
Agreed.

But man, give me a rocket launcher with no reload and I'm golden. Quake Live FTW.

Oh, no, I didn't read it in a srs bizness tone. I just wanted to show some more <3 to TF2 while explaining why I don't play CS: GO even while I recognize it's a solid game.

Is there a particular server you play on?

I find the "tough guy" cussing 13-year-old's and the "funny guy" music playing 13-year-old's to be incredibly annoying so I disabled the voice chat altogether. But if you know of a decent server I'd love to give it a chance.
