Netflix Stream

My dad has an old non-Intel Mac and he's unable to stream Netflix movies. Why does it work with Intel chips and not the old ones? Is there a work-around?

What is he using to stream it, the netfilx program is very faulty...using Windows Media Center or an Xbox is a much better idea...
