Need Help With Dual Monitors!!!

So I got another monitor for Christmas to run a dual set up, but I noticed a problem when I booted up my pc: On my second monitor, it looks like a zoomed in version of my main desktop but you don't see the task bar, or any of the shortcuts I have on my main screen. Also, I had planned on being able to run this one game on my 2nd monitor to train my character on said game, while I run one of my others on my main monitor. The problem is however, the game on the main monitor is fullscreen, and when I boot it up, I can see the edges of the game I put on the 2nd monitor, but the rest is blocked out.

I hope I made that clear as to what my issue is, which is pretty much that when I run fullscreen programs on my main monitor, it blocks out my 2nd monitor, and I'm curious as to if I can correct this.

Have you tried to set the resolution on your second screen higher? also you need to have the game on fullscreen (windows mode) so you can move inbetween the two screens...or else you would be alt+tab'ing alot and would also minimize your window...

other than that i'm not sure what you mean.

The resolution on my 2nd monitor won't go higher. What I was trying to do was let one game run on my second monitor, and play this other one in full screen mode on my primary one. The problem arises when I load up the full screen game, because while it acts normal on my primary monitor, my secondary one goes black. Another thing, my secondary monitor has the same background as my primary one, but it looks like a really zoomed in version of it.

but have you tried to make the game on the main screen fullscreen(windowd mode)?

The resolutions are different on each monitor. If they were the same they would look like the same size in the display settings. That's why it looks zoomed in.

Are they the same size monitor? Model of new monitor?
What is your video card?

Your resolution max will depend on the screen and the card driving it. If you lower the resolution of the first monitor to match the second then the zooming problem will go away.

Primary: Acer P216HV 21.5 inch
Secondary: Acer B223W 18.5 inch
Card: ATI Radeon HD 5770 1gb

I suppose what I'm trying to do is be able to run a fullscreen program on my primary monitor without my secondary one going black as well. The games I play, while having a "windowed mode" option, don't allow you to maximize said window for some reason, and stays really small. If I could at least maximize their windows, then that would be fine but since I can't I'm just looking at other options.
