Need help/advice on Logitech Mouses/Keyboards

the g7 and g5 are laser also, i also believe they track more then last gen mx1000. if you can go to a bestbuy, it would be best to test each mouse out to see which is more comfortable to you. I found the razers shape to be a little akward to me, but i love the mx/g series. as for specs on mice, its best just to see what other people think. It could have all the best hardware in the world and still have major issues that gamers dislike.

Translation - Razer to English

Can anyone tell me what is with the mundo-jumbo stuff the razer talks about?

2000 DPI Laser Engine Powered by Razer Precision™ - Same laser as G5 but with better drivers.1000 Hz Ultrapolling™ with 1 ms response time as compared with 125Hz/8 ms response time used by other conventional gaming mice - USB 2.0 is a lot faster than 1.1, but nobody uses the bandwidth. Razer decided to use the bandwidth.
32KB Onboard Memory Powered by Razer Synapse™This is actually pretty cool. Basically it's saving your settings on the mouse, so even if you change PCs you don't have to reconfigure it.
Up to 3 customizable weight standards and optional dummy buttons* With the additional Razer ProTools kit. Nice idea, but it's just to give it a different weight and make some of the buttons not work in case you hit them too much. Frankly, not worth the extra money unless you are going to be doing a lot of competative gaming.
Zero-Acoustic Ultraslick™ Teflon feet You don't have to buy teflon feet, they are already there. Great improvement over the aftermarket feet.
16 bit data path, as compared to 8 bit and 12 bit data paths used by other conventional miceback to bandwidth
High speed motion detection, up to 45ips and 20g / Over 7080 frames per secondThe little laser camera is really fast.
Always-On™ mode pioneered by Razer™ - the laser engine sensor never powers down to provide instantaneous response at all times during gameplayLaser never shuts off, good for response.
Award winning Razer™ drivers featuring On-the-Fly Sensitivity™ DPI adjustment pioneered by RazerBetter drivers than Logitech.
GlowPipe™ non-slip side rails Rubber side pads that glow
Ergonomic ambidextrous design Righty and lefty approved
Ultra large non-slip rubber coated mouse buttons These are actually nice, but it depends on how you grip your mouse. Palm grabbers will find this irritating, fingertip grabbers (aka pros) will love it.

there are only a few operating systems that support polling at 1000x a second, all are unix based. the mx518 has no reason to use the full speed usb2.0 , this also causes problems because the razer has to be plugged into a powered hub in order to work (else it isnt 2.0).

the drivers really dont matter, infact you will find that both companies use the stock driver for the mouse, but the included software (which i never use) allows you to tweak the mouse

Not to get off the subject here, but the stock driver for the mouse is not the same for each company. The Logitech driver on initial release was XP compatible only, the Razer driver works with any M$ operating system.

Also, the reason the Razer supports the faster polling speed is because they were looking forward to Vista as well.

I've read around in the reviews and someone complained the MX-1000 has very high latency issues. Do you have that issue, Dark Virtue, or anyone disagree the MX-1000 has any issues?[/url]

I play a lot of FPS's and can honestly say I've never had a problem like that with my mouse.

they were looking forward to lining their pockets with money, nothing about vista improves latency. same old nt kernel with a new interface, they are stripping features left and right just to release it on time. I think vista will be another ME, they even have another OS planned for '08.

I've read a bit on the Hubu, but the buttons are the same as the Copperhead, so I didn't see any compelling reason to get it over the Copperhead.

im boycotting microsoft products. they have officially made me mad.

Never boycott out of anger. Boycott because you personally believe that the company has a harmful presence on the world and you want to do your part to send a message of necessary change. Plus, it's not a boycott until a lot of people do that. At the solo level, it's buyer's choice. :)

Im boycotting the company to keep me from wanting to hurt them, therefore it is for a good cause.

That's like trying to boycot automobiles because they use gas.

I'll wave to you on my bike as I drive by in my air conditioned car :)

How about the Logitech Revolution?

The freespinning mouse wheel looks pretty cool.

Keyboard: attached to screen, bottom half of laptop. (Dell Inspiron 6000 computer)

Mouse: Wireless Optical Micro Innovations mouse, pretty generic mouse i got at Wal-Mart which does the job for me. I don't need fancy things to game...

Can anyone here disagree that I don't need gaming parts for my gaming PC?

I have a Gaming router, Ram and Video Card (AGP).
When the price goes down, I'm gonna have a total gaming video card (PCI-E), either the X1900XTX or Geforce 7950 GX2 (If I can use either).

Would it be too extreme to also have a Gaming Keyboard and Mouse?

Though, they do look nice and would be a fine collection to my gaming set items.

Gaming Router
Gaming Ram
Gaming Video Card (AGP)

pfft, gaming doesnt necessarily mean better...

usually you can get better functionality out of non "gamer" gear, its laughable.

THe only gaming part you NEED for a gaming pc is your video card. Everything else is just icing on the cake.

However, if you want to put the extra money forward, I would definitely go for the higher quality items if you will see a noticible performance bonus. I have the Dlink 108Mbps wireless router (non-gaming) and haven't seen a difference between that and my friend's "gaming" router. Gamefuel hasn't proven itself to be a better solution yet.

Gaming mouse and keyboard are nice, but not necessary unless you are going competative. Performance RAM is very nice to have, as it will generally wear better than a generic stick. If you want to get into hardcore competative gaming, nothing is too extreme, so no worries about that. :)

Price on the card seems a little high. eWiz and Monarch Computer carry an X800 XT 256 for about $170 US ($188 CAN) so definitely shop around. Sapphire is a good company, but not $300 good. :D

the whole notion of "gaming" parts is just a marketing ploy so people spend money... I look at stats and actual reviews instead of looking at its title and what it claims.

Also when buying video cards go with evga, they actually cover there warranty for "lifetime" instead of the lifetime (usually only a few months[6-12]) of the cards manufacture.
