Need a good solid MMO

I remember having this debate with 100s of people on mmorpg.com, and a staff member said that the reason GW can say it is an MMORPG is because they pay mmorpg.com to post it as one on it's lists...

I agree with Ewoksrule, I have been playing MMOs for many years now, and I have played GW, and I agree that 8 people is not massive, but to be completely honest, I hated and still hate GW...

Okay NO WOW!!!! I have played it and it is just too addicting....

Aren't all MMOs worth playing going to be designed to be addictive?

I've been told that City of Heroes & LOTR Online are both really good. I haven't played either, but if they ever made LOTR Online for the Mac, then I'd drop WoW and start playing it in a heartbeat.

I've also been told that Final Fantasy Online is fun, but is designed to focus more on group rather than solo play. I tend to be a solo gamer on the MMO world (kind of defeats the purpose of the MMO, doesn't it?)

I've heard mixed things about Two Worlds. I've been told that it sucks at first, but it really starts to grow on you after you get a few levels. I haven't tried it though, I'm to busy between WoW & Halo 3. :D

Okay NO WOW!!!! I have played it and it is just too addicting something about it is different than other MMO's I have played and they make it very addicting. Anyways, here are the options I was thinking of: (I am a fantasy swords and orcs type not space)

LOTR Online
Everquest II
Vanquard
Any others anyone can suggest that might be good? I only want one though

(YES I play GW too so that one is already under my belt. :)

And here I was going to suggest EVE Online. Shame.

If you want something light or temporary, Dungeon Runners is free and sorta like a 3D version of Diablo. It is made by the same company as GW, so heavily instanced, but still very nicely done for a free MMO. It also doesn't take itself or its genre seriously at all.

I LOVED Phantasy Star...but haven't played any of the new ones...which are Blue Burst (older and out dated) and Universe (newer and better)...

BB is bascially episodes 1 and 2 put together and played online...

Universe is a whole new game...

recently I got to playing Silk Road Online, not sure how it compares to most MMOs, I have only played GW and WoW and I must say, this game is pretty fun, and after stopping playing WoW it's not too addicting to me. Of course the big thing that caught me was the fact that it's completely free, that I liked. you don't have to buy it, no monthly payments, it's just download the installer and play.
