I've made it a personal policy to not take on any new server projects after the horror that was Mumble, so I wouldn't be configuring the server myself (though, given how much I <3 NS1 and NS2, the temptation is very strong).
And yes, I made an exception for setting up a TF2 Mann vs. Machine server, but I'd already worked with TF2 servers extensively and it was super-easy to set up (and I run it from my home desktop PC).
Maybe Joshinator, as candidate for NS2 Chapter Leader, would be willing to take on that duty (or delegate it)?
And it should be noted that any server that we don't pay to rent is marked as "Unofficial" because of past experiences. Marking a server as "unofficial" doesn't seem to have much impact on server activity, though, as our Minecraft server has been operational for some time now.
As for NS2 server player counts, 16 is considered standard. We could start with fewer slots and see how the hardware handles it and how much bandwidth it uses.
