Natural Selection 2 alpha set for July 26 release

Natural Selection 2 is an immersive, online FPS that pits aliens against humans in a strategic and action-packed struggle for survival. The teaser footage below was filmed entirely in-engine and showcases one of the playable classes - the "Onos". Those that pre-order get immediate access to the Spark SDK and toolset. Buying the Special Edition will grant you "alpha 1" access on Monday, July 26th.

EDIT: I'd love to buy the Special Edition of NS2, but I think I'll have to settle for the Standard Edition, having just shelled out the dollars to pre-order StarCraft II a few weeks ago.

I would love to get it too as I loved the original, but my backlog of games is so long I can't justify buying a special edition just to get alpha access.

Good point.

I'll probably just pre-order the Standard Edition. I anticipate StarCraft II and ToJ game nights will be more than enough to fill up my allotted PC gaming time for months to come.

Today (Monday, July 26) is the last day to pre-order the Standard Edition before the price goes up and the last day (ever) to pre-order the Special Edition.

While I wanted to get the Special Edition to get early access to the alpha and help support the NS team (I spent quite a few hours playing NS1), I decided to go the less expensive router and pick up the Standard Edition because I'm currently unemployed, StarCraft II comes out tomorrow, I have limited gaming time (and space on my hard drive), and the Special Edition costs twice as much as the Standard Edition.

Oh my! Only 3 and a half hours left to pre-order the Special Edition and get alpha access.

For those who pre-order the Special Edition or have done so already, please post your opinions of the alpha build when you can. I'll be playing NS2 the first day it's available to everyone who pre-ordred the Standard Edition.
