I think all of us as Christian gamers can agree this is a common stumbling point on our walk. If you have ever been to a lan party or been around the computer industry long enough, you will run into the situation of being tempted into using software you are not licensed to use. This is not an excuse, but the digital age has made copying licensed and copyrighted material extremely easy.
It is very important as Christians that we not get caught up in what the world does. Just because software sits out there on a torrent, ptp network, http, ftp or burned to a cd, does not make it free. Make sure you read and understand the license requirements or you maybe stealing. Stealing software rates right up there with porn as far as things that can hook Christians into sin while online.
Besides being morally wrong, there is a real legal liability in using unlicensed software. The recent prosecution of music swappers should make you think twice. If you copy software at work, you can open your business up to legal liability and cost you your job.
There are a lot of free and open source software solutions with more poping up everyday. If you don't have the money to purchase the software, look at alternatives or it may be God trying to teach a lesson in stewardship, responsability and patience.
