my account hacked

My main computer got water spilled on the keyboard a bit over a week ago. Was actually in the middle of a raid. This computer will barely run wow and only if i'm in a low lag area. It would have a heart attack in dalaran.

I get an email today saying my account was banned due to selling gold to 3rd parties for cash.

I try to log on and there is an authenticator on my account.

I replied to the email explaining to them what happened but haven't heard back yet.

I hope so... I had LOTS of gold on my account. I wonder how they can get the info like that. I have not viruses on my computer, no loggers, The computer I play wow on goes to very few websites. I have never gone to any warcraft site other than here, blizzard sites, and roadkill websites, armory, and wow heroes.

Other than that, that computer only goes to facebook, ebay, and my photo lab's website. I don't surf the web on it just because I'm afraid of getting a virus and I have all my wedding photos on it while I'm editing them and studio photos.

This is why I would HIGHLY recommend anyone who is possibly everyone to get an authenticator... If you have an iPad/iPhone/iTouch you can get a FREE authenticator and works great!!!

I have it on my account and still have had no problems what so ever!

I may be wrong in this, but I think there have been addon's that were published contanining keyloggers or such. So be careful what addon's you download.

The authenticator took some getting-used-to, but since it's a keychain, I always have it with me and it's easy to do. I highly recommend it.

Also if an officer is able to get on right as realms come up this afternoon, please demote. I may not be able to get on until later this evening.

BEWARE, emails like that from 'blizzard' can be phony and from the haxors. Then, the email has you go log onto a phony blizzard site that looks just like the real one to 'resolve' the situation. Once you log onto the phony sight which looks completely authentic, the hax has your info.

If you get a mail like that, first go log onto your toon. If you can log in fine, its probably a phony fishing mail.

Yup! I dunno how it happens.. but I probably get 20+ e-mails from noreply@blizzard.com a day saying my account has been hacked and asking me to login and verify my information. Who knows how they got my e-mail.. but I pretty much ignore em cause they are all from hackers.
