musical chairs with characters...

Hey All,
I wanted to ask if anyone else has this problem: not finding a character they can stick with? I have been through the beginning of Factions and Prophecies so many times that I get sick of it each time I make a new character... which I do frequently. I don't know why but I just can't find a class combo I like to stick with. I like having monk or some sort of healing as secondary but I can't find a primary I like to stick with. It is so frusterating- I don't know if it is my lack of attention span or what that is causing me not to play much or when I do play I hop around on characters. I can guess that it maybe that I am used to playing older MMOs like Asheron's Call, where you can make yourself invincible. Right now I am trying a W/Mo and a R/Mo but I am so tired of pre that it takes me a long time to make time to sit down and do it. I just wanted to hear your thoughts/ideas/comments on this. :)

Yes, I have the same problem. I have a short attention span when it comes to characters.

The only solution I've ever found is having lots of characters across servers, which isn't an option in GW. :(

Among the people I know online, I was the first to discover there's a hard limit to the number of characters you can have across servers in WoW. O.o

I have 6 character slots...and only one character I have stuck withso far.
My Elementalist/ whatever I want because I did all the quests to switch secondary class. That kind of solved my problem, I switch secondary class alot depending on what I am doing.

I am also working on a W/Mo...A/W...Mo/Me...R/Mo
for now anyway. But I figure I will just keep switching between the four characters now and maybe I will be happy with them. I have tried almost every class and combo there is I think. Those are the four I liked...except of course my Ele.

I did until I tried the mesmer. That was like my 5th character in pre-sear. Now I am going back and attempting to learn some of the other professions now that I am more familiar with the game, but I doubt I will ever enjoy playing another profession as well as I do the mesmer.

This issue is causing a dilemma for me. I want to try a paragon this weekend, but can't decide which character I'm willing to delete. All my characters are role-playing characters. :P

If you have factions and the preorder for factions one of the two has a 14 day/10 hour trial for prophecies. Keep all your characters and setup a new account with the trial key, then you can play the new classes without loosing one of your current chars. Thats what I did. Of course you wont be able to keep any skills you unlock and you wont have access to your skills from your main account but at leasat you get to keep all your otehr toons.

Do you have Factions? Starting a character there may help with boredom.

You also get one of our members with a pre-sear character help you out; I think there are a couple.

I have a couple of characters in Pre. So does my wife, and two daughters and son.
Any Ash character or Gabe character, orcharcter with the last name Slayton.

I just bought Factions a couple of weeks ago and tried to play a Ritualist character. My main character is in Prophecies and she's an Ele/Me. I finally gave up the Ritualist and made my Factions character an Ele too. I've decided that for me, since I'm still new at GW, that I'd stick with one type of character until I've learned more about the game and the things I'd run into.

Actually a Suggestion is take you Ele to Cantha through Lion's Arch. Later on you will probably wish you didn't have two eles taking up 2 of your slots. Or if you don't mind deleteing Characters that you worked hard on lol.

If I did that, could I go back through Cantha and do all the quests and missions before that point?

Ouch... I wouldn't delete any... unless you have a really low level
i just deleted my lvl 20 warrior (and just remembered i used him to make money with runs, now i have no way of running) because i really am one of the worst melee players ever (couldn't make it to sactum cay unless i got a run, and didn't want to buy a run)... sadly, i'm already over it.

ive deleted about five of my characters to this day (the first char: ele, i accidentally named it my real name x_x, then i deleted two mesmers and a monk i think... then gumby, and now the new pvp event, i went through various new builds)

so im a musical chairs person too... the only characters i'm remotely happy with are my rangers (except the bunny thumper, hence he is melee) and my newer healer. i don't even use ele anymore

i don't bother to make new pve characters unless it's factions, because prophecies got WAY old WAY fast.

hey i did like eles... until i got this new one which is really terribly boring.
i didn't mention my rit, he's sortof fun (see my signature for fun/not fun ratings :P)
