grats Flame! That's awesome :D'

I need to figure out this whole gear score thing....im not sure what numbers to look at ...people keep giving me different numbers. Then when i actually do upgrade...like the other day i swear i upgraded about three to four items and i think my score went down O.o i dunno....my char needs work lol

Gear score score is overrated IMHO. I'm only at 2616... A couple days ago I was doing a ToC 25 with a bunch of people that were way past my gear score. Most of them being 2800+. I was still doing more damage than most of them. I ended up finishing the raid at 3rd in DPS. Just my $.02 on gear score...

There are two main scores people are using on Stonemaul right now. If you see scores for geared people hovering in the 2800-3000 range (for ICC+ geared people) they're using Wow-heroes.com gearscores.

There is also an addon called gearscore that you can use in-game to check out peoples gear. The addon puts people in that same bracket in about the 5000+ range.

This is everything we've tried to build raiding around. There is a minimum amount of gear you need in order to perform well (obviously). However, when you're playing with people in the same general range, you can have toons that know how to PERFORM in their gear better than the people who just have shinier gear.

The addon gearscore actually adds a couple features to recount that shows a person's gearscore divided my their dps to show how well people are performing considering their gear.

The overall idea is to know your class and perform at your best regardless of gear. Gear definitely helps, but if you don't know how to maximize your gear's potential...you're just pretty to look at (I know I am). :D

One other thing is people might be getting gear that is a higher iLevel than what they have, but aren't equipping it because they wouldn't get a direct improvement over what they currently have i.e. breaking a set bonus.

Yeah, trinkets are good for that. I swap trinkets out based on the fight I'm on, but I always try to log out in my highest ilvl ones :P

thanks angry for explaining that.

the dividing the GS and dps is a good idea too :P

Shagz was sweet enough to let me have the tier 10 gloves but I wont wear them til i have the second set bonus. I'd lose haste! but the set bonus grants me haste O.o

Plus...i have a question...i was looking on wowheros and my gear says the same score as before but noticed it showed that my main spec was enhance. I'm improving my resto gear the most so is that why im not seeing any change? Do I need to swap my two talent trees so that it would show that resto is my main spec? Or does it just take the score from what I'm currently wearing when i log off?

It only considers what you are wearing when you log off. Flame always has a terrible gearscore because he's always logged out in fishing equipment or his biker's outfit. It takes into consideration the spec you have active too, *I believe*. If I log out with my 2903 gearscore, but have my ret spec active, I don't think it would give me a very good gearscore. Not 100% sure on that though. Just make sure you are on your main spec with your best gear on when you log out.

check out healsalot on wow-heroes :) 3100 now!

Got a new piece of frost gear, the exalted icc ring, and a drop from marrowgar all last night. popped my gs up by about 80 points.

Nice. I'm closing in on 3k with my new trinket. I'm so close to the revered ICC ring too!
