Missions?! Hey look at that...!

Well, in my typical manner of play first, learn later...I just found out about missions  . So last night I went back to the Northern Wall to tackle them in order.

Everything was going fine, I was looking for the armor, I found the invading force and so started to run back. Had 2 henchman with me, then some "bugs" popped up and I decided to ignore them and run by. The Henchman had other ideas, and stopped for a shot or two.

I kept running, as the henchman usually start to follow once I get further away from them, but suddenly, I start getting pummeled  According to the radar, there is nothing anywhere near me, but my life is dropping fast, and I am getting beat up, bad! ...next thing you know, the screen blinks, and I am "teleported???" back with the "bugs" and about 20 Charr, and I am dead!

What is up with that? Was that a spell? Does that happen often? Was it my fault, a mission thing, or some strange GW bug? Seems I was about 2 minutes from finishing...arg...

they call it rubber band lag. What happens is that you keep on running but really your character is stuck back where you started lagging; so it feels as if tho you got shot back to where you were. If you need any assitance with any missions dont hesitate to pm me; my characters are in my sig. I have been playing with "Ash O Ley" alot lately, so that's your best bet.

its a hated thing called rubberbanding. it kills the best of us. the game lags and shows you farther than you actually are. REALLY! you had never left your henchmen. but on your screen you had. its annoying i know. sorry man.
Joey.

ya, often times you get caught up on something IE. rocks, bushes, monsters, people, just about anything. and you keep going but not really. There really is no way to stop it, but sometimes if you are taking hits and nothing is around you you can tell that you are going to rubberband and prepare for something.

Oh well, at least I know. Nothing like experience for the best each...aw forget it, it was a pain!

Next time I know!

I pop on whenever I have 30 minutes or more, is it any fun for other to play missions that they've probably already done? If so, I will send up some smoke next time I am on. I have yet to play GW with another actual person, so I will probably shoot you in the back at least twice, but I'm game! :D

..probably better than henchman who dont tell me I am rubberbanding!!! (again)

It is almost always fun to go back and run a mission again. You get to share it with someone else - I have some completed missions that I need to go back and get the bonus - it is low level farming (getting loot) - it is usaully easier the second time through. Lots of reasons to do a mission again.

So - do not hesitate to put out a call for help.

Yeah i dont mind re-doing missions to help-out a fellow guildie. Besides it can get really boring playing with henchies..i promise i wont throw out cheesy lines like they do..My fav is Orion's "I'm going to knock you back into yesterday!" Never fails to make me giggle. Anyways, send smoke signals whenever, I usually leave GW running at work even if i'm not playing.

Olias~ "If at first you dont succeed, eliminate any evidance that you tried at all."

I like that one.

lol never seen that one. It is not surprising however that it would be the Necro throwing out cynical lines.

That's interesting...going off topic...Is it a bandwidth hog to leave it running, or is it not much more than general web browsing, or even less?

(BTW...even more off topic, just stumbled across JOTT.com ...very cool  )

You know it is somewhat of a bandwidth hog; but luckily i am the only person in the office between 4-12 pm so i can afford to hog the bandwidth :) But on a serious note, it doesnt hog any more bandwidth than IE with 4-5 tabs running.

Fortunately, you can't hurt your teammates. :)

Well, unless you're a monk. :D

Or a terrible tank; leaving your squishy teammates to...well be squished!

I have been known to be a terrible tank on a few occasions; during my uber-noobie days :)

I think when Atown, Bill and a few other guys were helping me with the last mish in proph, i was running 15 Dpm; "deaths per minute" :)

Yep, that happened when I was running people from Beacon's to LA (or from LA to beacon's) EXTREME annoyance, but very funny if you stop and think about it (which I did, and I laughed at myself)

it reminds me of the old "road runner" cartoons; where the jackal or wolf-like character would always try to catch up to the road runner by launching himself off an ACME brand slingshot made up of an enormous rubber band.

yeah msg me anytime, i love doin low level stuff

I love helping with low lvl stuff too. It seems that all any wants help with these days is tough end of the game stuff. It's a nice break to bring my lvl 20 Warrior out and run around killing everything in 1 swipe after constantly eating dirt in the Realm of Torment.I also have some toons I started in a later game that haven't gotten around to doing the beginning of the original game yet.
