Occasionally my school's newspaper covers something interesting, and when they reviewed the new album from mewithoutYou, it reminded me that I'd intended to check them out for a while now. I've got to say that I'm more impressed then I expected to be, especially by the depth and honesty of the lyrics. But be warned- the lead vocalist basically just talks and screams most of the time. (My school paper's review) . They're Christian, but they're definitely not a worship band. I don't generally listen to Christian music, are these guys well known? Are there a lot of artists like this around somewhere?

The local radio station (www.radiou.com) plays "January 1979" from MeWithoutYou. I don't know if they're considered popular or not. I've not noticed them in the www.christianrock.net or www.christianhardrock.net playlists, no XM SatRadio's... but that doesn't mean much.

As far as other bands like them? Hm. Hard to say as they have a distinct sound. Perhaps UnderOath, Showbred, As Cities Burn, or Dead Poetic may be something you'd like?
 
mewithoutyou is awsome, I listen to them also. It seems that they dropped the "hardcore" christian stuff from XM, but then again I dont listen to it much my dad just has it..
 
They are a very good band. I don't like a lot of guitar bands, but I like them, primarily for the sheer poetic awesomeness of their lyrics.
 
I'll check some of those out Durruck, and with Kraniac's endorsement I can qualify mewithoutYou as being super cool. After all, anybody who enjoys a daily dose of dinosaur comics has impeccable taste.
 
mWY is by far my favorite band to date. I had this album on preorder, got it a day early along with a free t-shirt. It is my favorite of their releases, but the others are very good too. I don't know if their considered popular, I doubt it, but they did receive a "MTVU Woodie" last year for "Catch for Us the Foxes". It's great that your school covered this, must be an awesome school. :)
