Medicinal Marijuana? Your thoughts? **Already been discussed? I don't know**

Regardless of your "justification" for using marijuana, it is an ILLEGAL drug in the US. When you use it, you are breaking the law. End of story.

Well not everyone on the forums are from the US, I'm from canada where it i also legal, but not for long. BUt what if there are some guys from amsterdam here. :)

I am that man. Live in Haarlem and work in Amsterdam. When I use it it's perfectly legal - only I don't use it.

And don't think I'm going to have fun explaining to everyone that just because it's legal I don't light up a huge joint after getting back from the brothel every night. <sigh>

Actually whilst quite a few of the people I know do use it, quite a few of them don't ever. And nobody I know admits to using the red light district. Funny how it being legal takes a lot of the thrill out of it for some people, isn't it?

With it being legal there wouldnt be such a circus surrounding it. Lets take, I believe its France, and compare it with the United States on the statistic of teenage pregnancy. The french people are not as closed off from the idea of sex than the United States culture is, the majority of the europeans don't find it as offensive as the US. What is the result of there support for sex? The lowest pregnancy rates in the world.

Openmindedness helped that happen, because when you are restricted from doing something what happens? You want to do it even more.

IMO, the point where it becomes "bad" would be the amount of any substance that lessens my inhibitions or increases my need for the substance to the point that I am more likely to sin. I know that when I was a hard drinker, I could handle probably 3-4 drinks before I started to feel it. Now, any more than 2 and I'm more likely to sin.

As far as marijuana goes, I don't know how much that would be-- I've never tried it. However, the biggest question I have with medical marijuana is how it would be delivered. If it's in pill form, then by all means-- use what the doctor prescribes. If it's supposed to be smoked... I have a problem with that, because I don't want to breathe in second-hand marijuana any more than second-hand cigarette smoke.

Just my $.02.

Ugh - that's a bad thing about Amsterdam - the second-hand marijuana smoke. Personally I find it a rather nauseating smell - far too sickly sweet.

Canada will soon be the only country were it is legal to smoke pot and illegal to smoke tobacco. As it stands, in Calgary, you can't smoke on a patio while cars spew noxious fumes not 10 feet away.

I know what med marijuana is, but I was sure i saw on the news that it can only be smoked at your own private residance. But I guess I'm wrong.

Here's a site with has some info on it.

I know people on illicet drugs for medicinal purposes and you know what, just because a doctor prescribes it, doesn't mean that all the consequences of using the drugs disappear. They get hallucinations, high, the inability to tell reality from fantasy and get addicted just the same.

Exactly! I even went through a similar experiencing using a prescribed drug for when I injured my foot. I would more or less get a high from the drugs I took and it was very easy for me to say that I'll take just one more pill. The one pill would usually knock me out, or at the least heavily sedate me.

Marijuana would do that exact same thing. People get hooked on that stuff, and then you have a very big problem. People will ruin their lives just trying to seek after a temporary satisfaction, and it has no benefit in the long run.

People already do this with alcohol, and tobacco. U can get addicted to pop, anything in excess could lead to a addiction that can ruin your life. What makes marijuana worst than any of these.

It doesn't, but the society is backwards, and targets things based on the views of a few people who have all the money, and therefore determine what happens.

If tobacco did not give billions to the USA I guarantee you marijuana would be legal. Guarantee it.
