Mac announcement tomorrow?

Mac users can get free in game earbuds ooooh. I demand equal treatment! Broken windows for all the Microsoft users!

Ooooh Valve hath teased the Engineer's new gun in the Mac video. I wanted to make a western style gun similar to that minus the scope. I am guessing a scope means better accuracy but probably with some trick involved.

Does anyone see anything else? I can't quite tell what is in the box the Soldier is over. He appears to be holding the pot and the cowboy hat though.

Note: My gun idea (which I didn't get anywhere on) was to have a gun tied to how many buildings you had constructed. So you could get attack power for either having them up or perhaps a few seconds of crit for their destruction. Was thinking of calling it the "Homesteader" or "Defender" or something like that. I also wanted a bullet sound effect like overly ricocheting ones in spaghetti westerns :) .

Forgot to mention on my idea of an Engineer gun I was thinking of a gun like "The Rifleman" . Looks like they just re-skined the shotgun model and stuck a scope on it though.

OK, I was all OK with this update, until I read about the free ear-buds in-game to anyone logging into tf2 from a mac before Monday... now that's a load of smelly stuff for all of us who made the game last by playing it on the PCs. Nothing like biting the hand that feeds you.

The Morgan

Has anyone else read this concept on the forums? I think it sounds awesome.

Ah you found it! In a website comment a person mentioned the Mogan as possibly inspiring the new gun but I had not found it.

Unfortunately from the description... I don't like it sorry Bassman T_T . It sounds good for creating forward bases and at least has several draw backs to "theoretically" prevent turtling (though it won't who needs a shotgun with mass sgs and this will just add more even if weak). Mainly it would be harder on spies. Example as an Engineer put the Morgan out of enemy fire but covering you and your sg from a short distance. As a Spy you would have to sap both guns to be free to use yours. Once you sap one the Engy will have early warning to stop you from the other and he doesn't need a shotgun if you can't shoot back. You'd have to backstab the engineer before sapping to get rid of the Morgan and that isn't always possible. There is also the fact it would increase the distance you'd have to get from an Engy to kill him with the Ambassador. I've never found it more difficult to destroy sgs than when there are multiple ones in crossfires mainly due to the repair swapping but also becuase you cannot attack freely even if you sap one.

I don't mind it being easier for an engy to defend while setting up in fact I like that part as it is tough to get a base going at the front. I also like having a movable sg at the cost of durability and power but not when you can still have the other sg. I think spies have it tough enough already and this would be a nerf to them almost exclusively.

If it was impossibly cool I might feel disappointed (like maybe a secret limited time medal T_T) but I'm not crazy about ipod earbuds in a comical 1950s style game. I still demand free Windows for equal treatment though :p .

We can still read the comic and enjoy the video though :).

I've wondered for a while if Valve ran out of TF2 budget as some of their updates content seems budgeted compared to the original TF2 content, though not necessarily bad. Re-skins and add-ons to existing models scream "I want to save money". I mean TF2 has been out for a long time and new customers are probably trickling in unlike what they used to. The outreach to Mac users is of course to make money but perhaps it is more necessary than we know? I'm not saying Valve is out of money only out of TF2 budget.

If I see someone wearing the earbuds, I'm gunning for them because probability is high that they'll be easier to take down than long-time PC gaming veterans.

I guess I just don't see the earbuds as a badge of honor. Think of them as the antithesis of the Primeval Warrior badge. :D

I want a in-game check sheet like the old red baron marking on planes for every iFRUIT player I kill.... Plus I want it so if I taunt after killing an iFRUITie it gives them a screen shot of something like "You're #284 OSx X'ed "

It could show them a blue screen of death with some text like "Welcome to my world!" :p .

Note: Oooh and you just gave me an idea for something I have been working on thanks Whon!
