Looking to get a DS (again)

Okay so I have been thinking of picking up the DS again, there are some games I am looking to play on there previously released and upcoming. Anyone know where I might could order a cheap older DS...I am not looking for the DSi or XL...DSlite or even the original. :) THANKS!

Looks like Amazon has plenty of used ones for $85, variety of colors.

I've been rockin' an onyx DS Lite for years now and still <3 it.

You might want to try a local used games store (though I can not, in good conscience, recommend anyone step foot inside a Gamestop).

Or you could check craigslist.

Or eBay.

If your interested in a newer one ever, I would wait to buy one. By the end of this year, we will have the Nintendo 3DS. Dev's have admitted to developing for this platform, and Nintendo has stuff legally filed for it.

Good point. I had forgotten about the 3DS.

I don't plan on getting one any time soon (in part because I've yet to find permanent full-time employment, in part because I have more than enough DS games in my backlog to keep me occupied for some time yet), but it may be worth waiting a little longer for more news (like an estimated release date) on the 3DS if you have another handheld.

If you don't own another gaming handheld, you might prefer to just get one used and on the cheap and hope it lasts until the 3DS comes out. It'll probably be a long while yet (until Nintendo ships the 3DS).

Traded in some old books I was no longer using at our local Hastings and got a new DS lite :) hehe Also picked up Blue Dragon, Chrono Trigger (NEVER PLAYED it I know), Mario and Luigi:Inside bowser...I love the old school style RPGs so I love the plethora of RPGs the DS has to offer now. :) I even thought of "cough" pokemon silver but RESISTED :) Also looking to grab the Dragon Quest series, and zelda and some other "generic" rpgs for the DS. :) I am excited!!

The Pokemon games (or at least most of them) are developed by Game Freak. I haven't played more than a few minutes of the Pokemon games, but they seem to show very solid game design. I have played Drill Dozer on the Gameboy Advance and had an absolute blast with it. Drill Dozer is one of those late product lifecycle gems that didn't get the attention or accolades it deserved.

In short: If you play Pokemon and enjoy it, don't feel like you have to apologize for it.

Pokemon was an awesome game back in the day when I was growing up (original red/blue to silver/gold). Anywho all of the games after that had alot of kid oriented mini-games added and I've lost interest in the series. However if there's a compatible SILVER/GOLD original version on the DS I would highly recomend it as it's the best pokemon game they ever made.

A fun, somewhat RPG(character progression), somewhat puzzle(battle system involves lining your troops up in patterns), somewhat ????? (the main characters are rather young) game I can recommend is the Might and Magic: Clash of Heroes game, although Ubisoft decided to throw the old Might and Magic lore out the window and then drop a nuke on it(apparently it was too convoluted), the game itself isn't bad, although you have to restart your character progression at the beginning of every chapter when you take the role of a new character.
