Looking for zerg luvers

Mostly_Harmless

Tribe of Judah Unreal Tournament Chapter Co-leader
As most of you know....most people play terran followed by toss and then zerg. It's a shame because I really like to fight against zerg players. Does anyone here play zerg as main race? I'm looking for fun TvZ matches : )

Even if he does.....I'm sure he wouldn't want to 1v1 me or anyone else in general..I think he said he only wants to finish the single player.

That was more a guideline than a strict rule. I've played a few online matches since the game released, but yes, I am wanting to concentrate on the single-player campaign until I finish it--which may be soon. I believe I've completed 19 or 20 missions and am approaching the end.

i'm a little zergling.
When I read this, I immediately thought of the lyric, "I'm a little wolf inside a girl" lyric from the Spice and Wolf ED (ending track).

EDIT: And yes, I'm up for 1v1 soon, especially after I finish the single-player campaign.

ok, and you darn well better get ur butt back on for Unreal Tournament III monday nights. = ]

Does blizzard track these stats? Is it on their website?
I think he was discussing race preference (Terran > Protoss > Zerg) among Tribe of Judah members.

But it would be cool to see some regional or global stats on what percentage of players play what race.

I was recently considering why so many people start with Terran, and then go to Protoss. Some of you already heard part of this, but the Terran makes the most sense to a beginner player - it seems obvious to us that you would train marines at the barracks, build tanks at the factory, and ships at the starport. The Protoss have a similar build and is easy for a Terran (new) player to transition to. That makes Zerg the hardest for someone who thinks in the conventional sense (I think most of us do). To be truly talented at Zerg, I think you have to play with an entirely different mindset, and too often I think players try to play Zerg with a Terran or Protoss background. The Drone to Unit mix is a particularly troubling problem for us - we just don't know *how* to make Drones or fighting units, or when to do it.

actually i meant world wide....I hardly EVER see a z user when i one on one....i almost have played 100 games and only have seen 2 zergs.

Bowser i disagree.....Terran and protoss units require many different buildings to be macroed out of....All zerg units come from one building...the hatch : ) I think they are all just about as hard to learn.

I have to disagree again, larva management is very difficult (like spelling is for me). You have a set amount of larva and you have to decide how to split it, this is very difficult early on. You have to balance that set amount between drones, overlords and army. Later on its pretty simple because your minerals and gas are fully saturated and you only make army and overlords, but earlier on you really slow a zerg down with a situation in which he has to sacrifice drone production to defend his base, which later comes back to bite him.

As a very new player in the Beta (though I knew SOME of the basics from the first game's campaign), Zerg scared me off due to the large amount of macro from either the creep tumors, queen's larva skill, and larva production. There's a lot to keep track of when first trying them out.

Terran I felt was too vanilla and was going to be one of the highest played since it is a Terran story in the campaign. Wanted something different, so I went with the last choice.

Protoss has a nice mix of both survivability and flexibility due to their shield regen, zealots charge, crowd control from Sentinels(?, LOVED throwing down those domes), and their macro was a very simple fire and forget build time reduction. Coming from other RTS's (mainly Command and Conquer), they made the most sense.

I'm a Protoss player at heart. Though for me it comes down to aesthetics and gameplay style. The Terran are all gritty and human and are too similar to all the other RTS games out there, and are totally uninteresting to me (exception: the ghost unit. If you see me play Terran, expect ghosts.)
Zerg are messy, in pretty much every sense of the word. I would play them because they are unique, but I don't because one of my pet peeves of RTS games is massed units of one kind. Zerg have that in spades.
Protoss have it all for me: Small(er), highly mobile, and allow the 'hit fast, hit harder, and hit where they ain't lookin' playstyle. Plus they look amazing, all shiny and futuristic.

Which is also why I play Tau and Eldar in the Dawn of War series, play mages/ranged units in fantasy games, and fly a Hurricane in EVE. This makes me highly predictable at times. :o

So for me it is Protoss > Zerg > Terran
