Looking for help with projects 2012-2014

The CGA is currently working on multiple projects. Rather than depend entirely on current CGA staff members or ask people to commit to joining CGA staff, I thought I'd try out asking people to help with a few projects.

Here are the current public projects:
  • Update forums Terms of Service
  • Create "Introduction to the CGA Forums" thread
  • Plan and promote Christian LANs
If you're interested in helping out, post a reply and I'll be in touch to let you know how you can help.

I'll help with Mumble testing as time allows (ie, when I'm not playing DCUO... then again, I could do both...). :D

Give it a shot. There's some rather snazzy overlay features built into Mumble.

What is involved with testing Mumble? After some guess work, and almost blowing my own ears off I am in.

Logging on, talking with others, and seeing if it has an overlay for your favorite game(s).

Two out of 3 ain't bad, Blue and I were in the GW section last night. Haven't figured out the overlay yet, will work on it.

Question: Do you want a thread especially for feedback on testing Mumble?

While streaming my DCUO time on Twitch.TV, I got Mumble setup and working. So far as I could tell, it worked great. It was much nicer than using Skype as I've been doing with some of my non-CGA friends while playing.

I was streaming my PS3 gameplay, so I didn't getta test overlays. I'll try again when I'm on the PC build of DCUO and whatever else I play.

...wait. Who am I kidding? I don't play anything else.

Still looking for help with projects!

Looking for help with a new project:

Beautifying MView (the real-time CGA Mumble Server monitor tool)

You can find the source code for MView under the viewer2 directory of the MumPI project on GitHub.

MView is functional as it is, but it's a bit hard on the eyes. Someone knowledgeable in CSS or PHP or whatever would be helpful could make the tool much prettier.

If you're interested in helping out, please send cgdoc519 a PM stating your interest and copy me on the PM.

This project has been canceled since we shut down the CGA Mumble Server and switched to TeamSpeak 3.

But the other projects listed in the first post of this thread are still valid and we're still seeking help!

I thought about being part of a LAN party in my area (Dallas/Fort Worth, TX) at one time. However, the main obstacle I see is finding other Christian gamers around this area and knowing how far they would have to travel (1 hour vs 2+). Plus, there's the other obligations they might have. There is the possibility of using user profiles to see if anyone is near a certain area. But, I'm sure a lot of user like their privacy.

There's a LOT that goes into planning a LAN party, but a successful LAN is well worth the effort.

If you're able and willing to take the lead planning an event, I'd recommend starting a new thread in CGA General to gauge interest. I could help spread the word after the thread is created and maybe even recommend some folks to help out. :)
