Something like PowerStrip but free...

...and this is not my first post on 'looking for brightness programs...'  X_X

And right now, my brightness settings is at 1.22, original 1.00, and no games can be compatible with those settings...

I need brightness for games...

"Me eyes, it burns, AIIEEE..."

Don't install anything just move your gamma bar or change your gamma settings. This will make windows washed out looking but it works. I played RTCW and it's dark , the brightness settings don't work. I changed my gamma and it worked in the game. When I quit playing a game I changed my gamma back to normal and when I started the game back up I changed it before starting it. CS
ps. if you have gamma settings

Game brightness/gamma settings at full.
Desktop window gamma settings at 1/2 (one half) blinding effect.

Still dark, hasn't change one bit...

Or in Counter-Strike's case, when I get flashbanged, I get blinded for a full 10-20 secs than the usual 1-10 secs due to my gamma settings.

Could it be the new video driver I installed a while back?

......

My monitor is 7 years old and counting...

Surprised it has worked for so long.

But my monitor does have restrictions, it cant go higher than 1024x768, 60 Hertz and is 7 years old and counting...my monitor's brand doesn't exist now. Hewlett Packard Pavilion

yeah my old monitor I had to set the settings all the way to max just to play cs, otherwise I had to use night vision to play. And I couldn't see a thing in SC even with settings at full.
I think my problem was a few of the pins on the plug had broken off.
Now I have a 19" flat screen and everything is great

wow, my cable modem sucks...

...anyways, I was thinking of getting a LCD monitor but I noticed no speakers, where are they?

Well, my monitors model is non-existent and looks much better than the newer ones.

Maybe borrow a monitor and see if that helps.
There was a program called 3Deep that dealt with the brightness and contrast issues in games.
the web site used to be 3deepgames.com but I went there and it's all wrong.
It came out in 1999. Don't know if it will even work with xp or whatever os you might have.

the only link I could find. CS

If your talking to me, ByblosHex, mine is all white and gray speakers attached on the sides. The HP logo is blue though.

Now I think some things can be stupid. My modified settings of the gamma works, but I had to put it on 32 bit in the game's option.

I thought the difference with 16 bit & 32 bit was that one is low graphic settings and the other is high graphic settings. So what are those bits mean?

I use Powerstrip, but its 30 day trial and u'll hav to find a key reg. someday

it works great though. I turn up all the way when facing a dark map, or places like CT Spawn in de_dust2, or B tunnels. wewt.
