lenovo IdeaPad Z570 ($649.99) vs. lenovo IdeaPad Z575 ($499.99). Which wins?

Essentially it comes down to: AMD A6-3420M 1.5GHz (quad core) + AMD Radeon HD 6650M vs. Intel Core i5-2450M 2.5GHz (dual core) + Nvidia Geforce GT 630M.

(And yes, I already asked this in the Laptop shopping thread, but I wanted to narrow the focus.)

I'm leaning toward the Z575, but I still can't seem to find a straight answer on which GPU+CPU set would be faster, despite having spent about an hour on research.

Doesn't hurt that the Z575 is $150 cheaper, either.

EDIT: It seems the Intel Core i5-2450M 2.5GHz has a noticeable edge over the AMD A6-3420M 1.5GHz, despite the fact the AMD A6-3420M is a quad core.

I really wish hardware manufacturers didn't try so hard to make comparing processors so blasted difficult.

EDIT#2: Important follow-up question: How on EARTH do I found out if the Z575 supports SATA III? (Or is that a dumb question?) I want to know if the Z575 will make proper use of a SSD (I have my eye on a Crucial M4 128GB SSD on Newegg) when it comes time for an upgrade.

Go with the ATI... go with the ATi... go with the ATi... go with the ATi... go with the ATi...

Honestly with all nVidia's recent problems I wonder why people still buy them (have you forgotten about Ember's HP already!?). ATi's record is comparatively flawless.

i would find an intel with radeon as the AMD LLanos aren't designed for blistering performance..the newer mobile parts based on bulldozer are a snore.

if you have no other choice though then the core i series anything stomps the crap out of AMD...if you have to get nvidia graphics look at an extended hardware warranty past the initial one year...I don't trust nvidia mobile chips yet.

Macbook Pro. (Sorry, had to say it.)
For what a Macbook Pro would cost, my wife and I could both get desktop replacement laptops and possibly pick up a third as a spare with the difference.

Oh my goodness, of course not. I spent 8-12 hours of my life trying to fix that Pavilion only to find that nVIDIA's shoddy hardware was to blame.

I'd like to avoid buying a Dell if at all possible. Just the thought of calling Dell support again makes me clench my fists.

Darn. :( I was hoping the AMD processor in the Z575 would be a good mid-range choice.

I'll see if I can find a Lenovo with a i5 or i7 (probably an i5) and an AMD GPU.

Hm. I'm not seeing any Lenovo, ASUS, Samsung, or Toshiba laptops with i5 or i7 processors and an AMD GPU on Newegg.

:(

EDIT: Apparently there's no such thing as a Lenovo laptop with a 15" screen, an i5 or i7, and an AMD GPU.

Boo.

EDIT#2: Apparently there's no such thing as a laptop with a 15" screen, an i5 or i7, and an AMD GPU, period. Not just Lenovo.

Very boo.

EDIT#3: Oop. Nevermind. Out of budget, though. And 14" screen. And it looks like the video card is a clunker. :(

Well, Hescominsoon answered my question about the AMD CPU, so we might as well head back to the Laptop shopping thread.
