lenovo IdeaPad Z570 ($649.99) vs. lenovo IdeaPad Z575 ($499.99). Which wins?
Essentially it comes down to: AMD A6-3420M 1.5GHz (quad core) + AMD Radeon HD 6650M vs. Intel Core i5-2450M 2.5GHz (dual core) + Nvidia Geforce GT 630M.
(And yes, I already asked this in the Laptop shopping thread, but I wanted to narrow the focus.)
I'm leaning toward the Z575, but I still can't seem to find a straight answer on which GPU+CPU set would be faster, despite having spent about an hour on research.
Doesn't hurt that the Z575 is $150 cheaper, either.
EDIT: It seems the Intel Core i5-2450M 2.5GHz has a noticeable edge over the AMD A6-3420M 1.5GHz, despite the fact the AMD A6-3420M is a quad core.
I really wish hardware manufacturers didn't try so hard to make comparing processors so blasted difficult.
EDIT#2: Important follow-up question: How on EARTH do I found out if the Z575 supports SATA III? (Or is that a dumb question?) I want to know if the Z575 will make proper use of a SSD (I have my eye on a Crucial M4 128GB SSD on Newegg) when it comes time for an upgrade.
