Laptop coolers?

Can anyone recommend a good laptop cooler for a 17-inch widescreen Dell Inspiron? The exact model is E1705, in case you want to verify the dimensions.

ROFL my bad, i thought it was laptop colors, not coolers, my bad.

laptops shouldnt need a cooler, if it does then the company that made it doesnt know what they are doing.

ROFL... dude, name a single high performance laptop without cooling issues and you can defend this statement. :)

Tek, Antec makes a good cooler. Since you are using it on a laptop, I don't recommend any of the 4-port coolers, but Antec makes a good 2 fan unit with a pass through http://www.antec.com/us/productDetails.php?ProdID=75005 that won't drain your battery dry and still provide effective cooling. Price is usually pretty good, under $25 if you shop around. There's some slightly cheaper ones on eBay, but they are usually lower quality with 3 or 4 fans to drain power. I've been using the Antec on my 15.4" laptop, and my friend has been using it on his 17" custom-built, and neither of us have had any problems, even after playing Quake 4, Farcry, and CoD2 all day.

I'll see if I can get a good discount through my sources and send one to you if you aren't in a huge rush. Takes me a couple days to ask around my vendors and the accessories department at work.

namely the laptops without a desktop cpu in them. if a manufacturer ships a laptop that overheats with stock cooling, it is time for a refund\lawsuit...

well laptops are ment to go up to 100+ d. temps but yes they do need better cooling my hp one will shut off sometimes it overheats to much

raise a bone with the vendor, if my laptop shut off randomly i would call up customer service and show my appreciation for their product.

i find it amazing that people will pay 1200+ for a computer and not raise a complaint with a vender when it shuts down randomly.

Aye, and my laptop is a performance machine: 17-inch widescreen screen (not TrueLife, though), Core Duo T2300 (1.66GHz), 1GB RAM, nVIDIA GeForce Go 7800.

I <3 Antec. Great company. Great products. I chose an Antec case for my desktop PC and I've loved it.

Thanks for the recommendation. :)

Roger that. I sent you a PM on that point.

for the same price you can buy a laptop from apple for cheaper compared to the same configuration at dell :P
Except I don't want an Apple laptop. I want exactly what I got.

vibrokatana: This thread is not about criticizing my choice of laptops. It's about me trying to find a good cooler for my laptop. If you don't have anything constructive to add to this thread, please stop posting in it.

I looked into the Antec Notebook Cooler, but it looks like it was built for 15-inch widescreen laptops, and mine's a 17-inch widescreen. Apparently the Antec Notebook Cooler doesn't fit a 17-inch widescreen laptop very well--at least according to some of the reviews I read.

I'm working with Sony and it's pretty funny we are not suppose to call notebooks by the name 'laptop' when talking with customers because they are not suppose to be used on the lap for the chance of getting burned.

I don't really have any paticular coolers to suggest but just thought it was funny.

it is time for a refund\lawsuit...

i seem to recall you saying you filed for a lawsuit for something because you were angry at the company?
you and your nasty little lawsuits -.o

my inspiron doesn't *need* a cooler but it does *need* a new battery...
hence the massive battery recall by Dell

you might want to check if yours can be recalled also, because i think all inspirons [mine is inspiron 6000] have a recall now...

either that or never run on the battery, because i hear that they are prone to explode o.o
