Kick Out The Jams!

Part Time Player

New Member
Greetings!

My family is in the middle of a big move this weekend and while packing up our stuff my wife stumbled upon my old CD collection. I've got a very short ride to work and due to the recent downfall of my last vehicle my current one doesn't have a CD player so I haven't listened to anything but radio for close to a year.

I'm a connoisseur of genres for the most part. I'm not a huge fan of country or the real hard rap.

I've quit listening to secular music for probably 5 years now, so all my selections are christian artists. Anyway, I'm curious what the CGA members are listening to these days or all time favorites from the past.

A quick post or maybe a link to YouTube with your favorite jam. Currently, I've had this one in my head all week. I really love bluesy/jazzy styles right now. :D

Hm, can only do one video...

Rather than spam it... I just want to add;

Philips Craig and Dean

(One of my favorite worship songs.)

I had Fireflight, The Letter Black and Third day too.

Oh Kahiel you make me laugh calling skillet hard. But here is my list soft to hard. Yahweh-the desperation band. Anything TFK. The anything from For Today. Then anything from Becoming the Archetype.

I don't typically go to that extreme, but I do own a Demon Hunter album. :p

Lots of great music listed here. Third Day is my all-time favorite and I also enjoy TFK, Hillsong, Switchfoot, Skillet, etc. I listen to whatever the air1.com rock channel is playing. By the way, I pretty much stopped using CDs. When I run across an album I like, I rip the music into mp3s and transfer to my android phone. I then listen in my car via the bluetoooth connection. It's also great when I'm out walking.

I still listen to Petra and Michael W. Smith much to my wife's chagrin.

What be wrong with the Smithy?!? Your wife B trippin or something :p .

I still like my Newsboys: Take Me to your Leader CD over their newer stuff and people would call it "old". A lot of Christian music today is good but most of it is either hard edged or music that makes me weepy and unable to do work, like the current Newsboys do. Newboys today is good but a totally different band. To little, or none of Christian music, has funny lyrics (or more descriptively "cleverly cute lyrics") like that "old" CD has. Also >>DCtalk<< people seriously how doth you overlook? Has anyone ever come close to their sound?

Opines: People seem to call things "old" quite easy and be enamored with "new" whether it is good or not :/ .

My actual top 3 CDs have been for a long while...
1.Genesis: Invisible Touch <Not Christian I know. It's just every song on that album is placed perfectly to work together>
2.Newsboys: Take Me to Your Leader
3.DCtalk: Jesus Freak

Though I've actually really gotten out of listening to any music save generic Vocal Trance or Eurodance type channels while I work. Also some chiptune stuff reminds me of the 8-bit game days and when it's dance'ish and silly"ish I likey even more, go ninja! :p. I REALLY wish there was a Christian equivalent due to some of the songs I have to avoid -_- but there is not. I've given up looking too as it'd have to be a whole channel and I can't even find one, actually upbeat, Christian dance song.

Not anything real new, but I'm trying to make this song a reality in my life.
