KB&M vs Controller

Well that will be interesting, you will have to let me know how that goes and i might try my 360 controller on it.

I will never ever understand these "controller over KBM" people. It's completely mind boggling to me. Fully half the reason I play PC games is the ability to use KBM. Someone punch me in the face please.

From what I understand its mostly those with disabilities or injuries to hands/wrists that use them because the KBM adds too much stress.

Point taken... indeed some games are better with controller even on PC...driving games, platformers, etc. but certainly not mmo's.

It's simple to me. Controllers were designed to play games. Keyboards were designed for typing. Honestly, I hate using KBM for any games with the possible exception of RTSs.

I think GW2 will work very well with the controller and I can't wait to test it out. :D

As far as it not working well with MMOs, I would agree if this were WoW or any other ridiculous game with an entire screen full of skills but this ones only got 10 at any given time. So it seems to fit pretty well with the controllers natural design.

I should also point out that I grew up playing the NES, SNES, Nintendo 64, Playstion 1 and 2 while the only PC game I played was Age of Empire I,II (more recently III)...

So I am WAY more comfortable using a controller. Muscle memory I guess. Hard to break a habit going back over 20 years.

Every single person here grew up with NES, SNES, SEGA, N64, Playstation, etc.

Interesting topic. Personally I dislike playing most games on controller but would be interested to see how GW 2 will work. Any idea how you'll open all the extra screen in the game? (I'm assuming you'd be mapping the 10 buttons to the 10 ability bar items)

Is this an experiment for you or do you have some experience playing with a controller in pc games?

I've used a controller before on some less complex setups on the PC but never one with as many options as GW2.

With all the extra screens I may end up having to alternate the KBM just to handle it all unless combos work (Up+Start, Down+Select, etc)

If necessary I'll just use this http://xpadder.com/ to help map a little.

I'm pretty much a keyboard and mouser.

Wouldn't it be a great workout if you could wii GW2.
