Kara tank question

We are getting more tanks ready to join in the runs. So we are coming up with an issue, what to do with all the tanks?

Personally I would like to see a rotation for the tanks. I see two groups right now, OT and MT. I would suggest rotating people through every night for a chance at OT while our two MT rotate also.

What do the tanks think of doing a rotation?

I have thought about this quite a bit and have decided to leave my real feelings about how this should be handled. We have had a fairly consistent group of people running together when we can, we fill in the gaps when we have to. We have been progressing through this instance and have done the same bosses over and over and over (lol). Now that we are making progress, more people want to come -- be it 'timing' or whatever. Is it fair to ask people who have been attending the same thing over and over to sit out while others continue their progress?

Karaz. for me is important for gear upgrades, I am attending more than just karaz. I am off-tanking Gruuls on sundays (hoping to pick up another day as well) and doing heroics. I personally have worked hard for the gear I have and the time I have spent 'practicing' tanking. I do realize this run is not only about my progression, however this has become more important for me lately. So, if I am not attending I will probably find a diff. group, even though I am very comfortable playing with all of the regular people.

Really, what needs to happen is we need a steady group who are able to dedicate certain times for us to go to karaz, which we mostly already do. Changing out players (and 6 none the less) makes a big difference in how smoothly the run may or may not go. So, you will be trying to gear 6 people while the other 6-7 people are progressing normally on their gear. What I really think would benefit all of us is keeping a core group that is solid, well geared people. Getting us through karaz, learning the fights, getting some people geared up pretty well and then breaking off into yet another group.

If we are changing out so many people, I think we would end up back tracking too much and would probably ruin the progression that we have made so far. I am personally excited about seeing more of karaz and excited that we have gotten as far as we have now, there are certain elements that are needed to keep a run successful and I think swapping out so many people would become very frustrating. Speaking for myself, its been frustrating swapping tanks as much as we have already because I have lost out on stuff I needed to people who have never come back to us. In order to have gear progression you need to keep it tighter, its a little frustrating seeing all the other classes getting upgrades (even though I am happy for you as well!) and losing over and over to a new person (:

You have people who have spent a lot of time preparing to get this far, helping contribute to mats for pots and gear, studying/discussing strats.

So, I am merely stating the frustration that this could cause and some frustration is has already caused. I do however think it is great we have so many people wanting to come. Anyway, good luck (:

personally, I see what holly has to say and if you have worked your butt off to become a main tank and then to read that u might have to rotate, it you feel like are under appreciated. At the same time I Can see that the number of people that are tanks and want to come are getting higher, however most of the tanks are under geared and under prepared for there. the experience would be great but I think that if they cant hold aggro or have no problems in heroics they should be going to Kara. I ran Kara Sunday morning to help a group out I was dps, I did alright but I was under geared and overwhelmed with the pots and everything else u need to run there.

With that being said if the guild wants to bring new tanks, thats great let them get the experience but make sure they are geared and can run heroics good enough which means that the heavy hitters need to run heroics with the tank to see if they do huge damage the tank can still kept the aggro.

These are my thoughts and I do not run Kara unless needed as a dps and no one else will go. I know my limits and understand what I can and cant do.

Rhys, at this point its more a less a discussion about what to do with so many people. We have so many "tanks" "dps" and "healers" and certain groups are a lot heavier than others.

A suggestion for getting some more people started on some gear upgrades might be beginning a third group and learning the first couple fights. While I cannot offer Daire to help, I will have a 70 lock in the future who would be glad to help out. It is also difficult living with another 'tank' type person because we do not often get to group together, so once shes leveled Im hoping to help scott become better geared for whatever he decides he wants to do.

Holly is bag on regarding team cohesiveness. It would be disruptive to consistently cycle people in and out but I think Holly's comment about a 3rd group is accurate. I think we can help in that process by giving them some Kara xp which I think is more at the heart of Mike's comments. The other part is trying to give our guild mates opportunity to try these instances out once they are geared and ready.

Lets have all the new ppl who are keyed for kara post so we can see how many we have and where they are gear wise.

I will start a seperate thread for that.

Many of us have other 70s who can be made available to help as well. I think it can be a real possibility for a 3rd - yikes.

It seems like Rhys's group for the most part has healing, they have a priest and a shammy -- would need to find one more healer. It seems the Dps roles are the easiest to fill, so this could be a distinct possibility.

I would be OTing or I would respec to mt in my group since I changed my group but we are still a little way from kara since allen hasn't even started and Matt is taking time off.

My opinion is that those who have been running on at least a semi regular basis will have preference over those who are new, regardless of how they sign up in Guild Calendar. Some of the reasons are already posted.

Knowledge of the fights are crucial to advancement.

It is patently unfair to boot someone who has lived through the trials it took to get to that point just so someone else can run.

I am preparing a full topic regarding running Kara, but I wanted to throw in a little 2 cents since the topic came up.

I would gladly lend my alt as assistance in another Kara group where possible to help with the transfer of knowledge.
