Jars of Clay flat out owns

I managed to make it quite far into my CD collection (55+...what? Not bad for a college student who refuses to venture onto the high 'net seas and pillage songs) without purchasing a Jars of Clay CD. I just picked up Jars of Clay's Furthermore, their dual disc release.

Jars of Clay just simply doesn't sound like anyone else out there, and it's quite refreshing.

Outside of Furthermore, what's their best CD in your opinon? I was thinking about their self-titled CD. Any suggestions?

The first one, which is the self-titled album, is the best by a landslide.

All of their cds are good, though.

Landslide what? Thought I heard my name somewhere.

Jars of Clay is good songwriters. Unless they're one of the 95% of popular bands that don't write their own songs, in which case, their producer is a good songwriter.

I'm pretty sure they write their own songs (if not then that's really really stupid). But yeah, I like them. I've seen them in concert 2 times, and both times he told the same exact story word for word.

That's pretty normal, Killerah. Can you imagine if he had to come up with a new story for every stop on every tour? Heh.

heh, thats funny.

I was never big on the christian scene. Last Jars cd I heard was the one that was released around the time of that Billy Grahm crusade

ok their first cd is the greatest.. i was actually listening to that today.. i wish they still had that sound.. and on that disk they wrote all the songs but "flood"

Huh? Who wrote that song then?

i'm not sure, but i know that song was written for jars of clay.. what i meant was members of the band wrote all the songs except that one.. "Flood" is a Jars of Clay song tho, just not written by band members

I'm a big fan too. Especially of their first self-titled album. I'm considering downloading Redemption songs off of Napster. Is it worthy?

If you visit the Jars of Clay website you can listen to their entire latest CD (Flash Website). They did the same when Who We Are Instead was their latest album. From the Redemption Songs album the songs God Will Lift Up Your Head and I'll Fly Away are both good ones and getting a lot of airtime on the local radio station.

Of their albums, the self titled is my favorite, but I have Who We Are Instead and Furthermore too and have not been at all disappointed in either.

I was listening to clips from The 11th Hour the other day. Many of the songs from that CD are on the "From the stage" Disc from Furthermore. I used to disdain CDs that featured live songs with audiences.

However, after listening to the songs as they were recorded in the studio (11th Hour) and as they were recorded on the stage (Furthermore: From the stage), I have to say that the songs sound much better when played live. There's an energy and enthusiasm in the songs recorded on the "From the stage" disc that isn't present in the "The 11th Hour" disc.

I thought that was interesting anyway.
