Happy New Year, CGA! And Happy Creation, as well.

Today we read our first verses of the year, starting out in Genesis and Matthew, and two of the most substantial events to us occur. God creatues us, breathing life into us and giving us dominion over a new earth, and Jesus our Saviour is born. Isn't that just a great way to start your day off?

The reply is a bit late, but only because I didn't know you were doing this.

A couple of things to note about Jesus' ancestors:

1. Jesus was not a "pure blood" Jew by birth. Rahab (the harlot) was from Jericho, a Canaanite. Nice to see He had some Gentile blood in Him.

2. His line contains both heroes of faith, like Hezekiah, Josiah, and Zerubbabel, and those who turned from God, like Ahaz and Jehoiachin (who burned God's law IIRC).

This passage serves as a reminder to me that none are pure except whom God makes pure.
