1 Samuel 16
6 When they arrived, Samuel saw Eliab and thought, “Surely the Lord’s anointed stands here before the Lord.”
7 But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”
This is the time when God commanded Samuel to anoint a new king for Israel. At first Samuel thought that Eliab will be the next king. But the Lord sees what we do not see which is a person's heart. God already chose David to be the next king after Saul.
I know a guy who heard the story of Jesus and how he says that we must make disciple when he was just young. I'll just call him James. James says to his heart, I can't or won't do that. It is just not me. James is so unfeeling for others. Well as he grow old somehow he sticks to that mindset. There are times that he though maybe this is what God wants him to do. But never really materialize. In his hardest time of his life, he question God. But in that time he did find thirst for God. That thirst was a result of a person he didn't even met in real life. James read some conversation in the net. There was a woman trying to spread the gospel as she can. Some people, non Christian and Christian alike, discouraged her by their comments. And James kind a felt bad for the woman and said to himself whether I believe her or not this should not be the comment that I should be giving her. James tries to find out who this woman is. And chances are the woman is in her mid 20's, introvert, living alone, have a sickness and didn't have any schooling. By assuming this is the case, James was so grieve to the point of crying. James continued crying as he read what the woman said. Her faith was there and it was firm. James respected that woman and began praying for her as well. James said to himself that he must serve God just as this woman did. James is more willing to serve God because of that woman's heart. As her words shows her heart.
Christians are one body and have different callings. Let us serve God with sincere faith. No matter how simple it is, do it wholeheartedly. We may never hear a thank you for what we done. But God knows it and that is enough. He is the best in giving rewards. Who knows who we are inspiring to do God's calling. Our simplest deed might start something big for someone.
P.S. Good job Ursen for continuing to post bible verses!!!!
