Is Doom a Christian game ?

I am specifically refering to the og Doom and Doom 2 I also think we can include Doom 2016.

So I was wondering if those could be considered Christian or Christian like game considering we are wiping out Heelspawn in those gamed and while it has Satanic Imagery which makes me feel unwell honestly,it does not glorify it nor show it in any positive light.

It serves more as marking Demon controlled areas I would say.

So what you all think of those 3 Doom ganes.

Why I excluded Doom Eternal:
I dislike how they portray Angels as Evil in that game so I would say its clearly none Christian unlike the previous games.

The original Doom has a rather unusual past in the demon department. IIRC originally they were legitimately demons but in an early port they made them aliens from another dimension to try and appease more conservative folk. It's also worth mentioning Doomguy's original motivation was they killed his pet rabbit so it kind of tells you the level of thought that was put into the plot. It's "Hey we already had a guy kill Nazis let's up the power levels and have an even more powerful guy and what is more tough and powerful than killing demons?"

The worry of such things is it teaches people that absolute evil can be permanently beaten with a shotgun. I've not read it but I think Frank Perretti, Christian author, wrote some stuff like that but was careful not to make "man" the permanent solution to evil. It's like using the one ring in Lord of the Rings and conquering it with one's human will. It becomes both a moral and literary paradox as such stories continue. A writer wants to make his protagonist the most powerful so the reader will want to be them, but, readers attracted for the power fantasy must have continually greater threats to retain that feeling and their readership. Rather than provide nuanced villains bad writers simply go directly to the most evil/powerful thing they can think of and by defeating that thing the protagonist proves themselves greater. Enter demons, or the devil, the ultimate evil but if humans defeat them the problem, and message, becomes humans don't need God and were the demons really an absolute evil either? Thus demons in stories with human victors are both both a moral and literary paradox.

Buffy, Angel and such shows were all about lowering the supernatural to a mundane soap opera (because Joss Wheaton is a virulent atheist) but once you've done that where do you go? While Doom itself enviably added in angels and 'god' in an attempt to up the ante and yes Doomguy kills god because poor writing and uncontrolled power scaling go hand in hand... I liked it better when it was just a man angry about the death of his rabbit.

I did have a shareware version of Doom but that was only because I wanted to make a video game some day and I wanted the level editor. Yes I admit shotguns are fun too.

I was a bit to young when I played it first so I legit thought they where Aliens at first nit sure why I did not make the conclusion considering all the Satanic Symbolism probably thought well its on Mars so they are Aliens.

I would not say Doom teaches that absolute Evil can be defeated at least not by man permanent since no matter how many times Doomguy defeated them even Satan himself they always come back.

Yeah I did like Doom Eternal overall but not the part where they made you kill Angels that one rubbed me the wrong way and its the typical Atheist angle portrayed at its finest since for them Satan and God have little difference and everything is evil yada yada and so on.

Ironically the Devil is already defeated hence he is in Hell where he does not rule contrary to popular believe but is there as punishment not as ruler and
his final judgment will come for him someday as sure as the Amen in Church,
and yes its not up to man to defeat Satan permanently but we can fight against his influence on earth and on a wider sense against him
  • Revelation 2:2: Commends the church of Ephesus for not tolerating wicked people, saying, "I know your deeds, your hard work and your perseverance. I know that you cannot tolerate wicked people..." [1, 2]
  • Romans 12:9: Commands believers to detest wickedness: "Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good.
The Bible clearly commands us not to Tolerate Evil and so I will not if we see evil things done we are urged to stand against it no inch on earth for Satan will and wickedness.
Also I played Doom 1 on Ps1 it was my first Doom Game and its still playable
And yes I like vanquishing Demons, also I know many do misunderstand it and try to hold us to the Though Shall not Kill which is a mistranslation
in Original Hebrew it was Though shall not Murder not Kill there is a difference you can't murder a Demon who wants to Kill you.
In the Bible killing is portrayed and that as Just like David vs Goliath where David killed Goliath he was not outcast or called sinner instead
it was justified.
And before anyone misunderstand I am not calling to go out and kill obviously I just show some cases where it would be biblical justified and that you don't need to feel like a sinner when you Kill someone who tries to murder you or you're loved once in self defense.
this Video is quite good in regards to this
