since teky was able to get great help i thought i might ask as well ^_^ alrighty, i need either an 80gb IDE under $50 or a really cheap SATA 80gb for $40-$60.

I have to dash off to get ready for the 9AM showing of Star Wars Episode III, but I have two quick pieces of advice: (1) Start at newegg.com and (2) get a Western Digital Special Edition (8MB cache) drive. There are three PC parts where you don't want to skimp: (1) motherboard, (2) power supply, and (3) hard drive. Still, you should be able to get an 80+ GB drive for a decent price at newegg.com.

well for my situation, and i should have mentioned this before, is that it would be replacing my current hd (40gb western digital) and also i am unable to purchase things from online stores due to parents -_- however, outpost.com is an extension of frys electronics and i can get out to that place. i have the norm shops around (staples, office depot, best buy) and actually i ahve been thinking about a new power supply due to mine doesnt have any extra free cables.... err ok i found some stuff after looking at this:

power supply:

now im thinking whether this one will be fine, becuase i currently have 2 cd/dvd/rw drives, 1 hd (soon to be 2) and a LED case fan. im planning on having 2 more case fans installed (one in the front of the comp and 1 for a blow hole) so yeah, would i need a 500W ??

more n more as i look around, i may have to just wait maybe for a bit, cuz its all out of my price range, and ive seen them for $30-$60 on them so im just gonna have to wait and hope i can grab one on the fly from staples or other place....

im useing a radeon 9600SE and a amd athlon xp, 2600+ (runs at 2131mhz) which is overheating as is. im trying to setup kinda a monthly budget type thing and hopefully by the end of the year my comp will be fully tuned up to its highest potential. ive had it for 1 1/2 years already and have: installed case fan LED, new ram, new vid card (thankyou heavenly father), and an external dvd/rw.

i know, but i cant add anymore case fans till i get a new power supply. and im really looking for a good one, i just havent found any that are really good yet. you guys have suggestions?
