DIARY OF A BIBLE

January

A busy time of year for me. Most of the family decided to read me through this year. They have kept me busy for the past two weeks. Now they have forgotten.

February

Clean up time. I was dusted yesterday and put in my place. My owner did use me a few minutes last week. HE had been in an argument and was looking up some references.

March

I had a bust day the first of the month. My owner was appointed leader of something and used me. I got to go to church again and was carried proudly since it was Easter Sunday.

April

Grandpa visited us. He kept me on his lap reading 1st Corinthians for an hour (ch 13). He seems to think more of me than he did when he was younger.

May

I have a few green stains on my pages. Had some early spring flowers pressed in me.

June

I look like a scrapbook. They stuffed me full of newspaper clippings. One of the girls got married.

July

They put me in a suitcase today. I guess we are off on a vacation. I wish I could stay at home because I will have to stay in this thing for a month!

August

Still in the suitcase!

September

Back home again, and in my old place. Have a lot of company; two "True Stories" and four magazines are on top of me. My...I wish I could be read as much as they are.

October

They used me a little today. One of them is very sick. Right now I am all shined up and in the center of the table. I think the preacher is coming.

November

Back to my old place. I was looked through for some old papers today. One of the children picked me up and asked, "Is this a scrapbook?"

December

They're getting ready for Christmas, so I'll soon be covered with packages and wrapping paper.

Mine would say I go in spurts, and I use a dry highlighters so it looks close to a coloring book. with little side notes. Its something that when my children's children read it, they'll can see our trails and challenges though unique are simular! I also try and keep a daily journal so they can hopefully benifit from my trails!

Annual Progress Report

From: Jericho's Bible
To: Author and Finnisher, Jehovah

First Id like to applaud my user's kindness and faithfulness in bringing me absoloutely everywhere. Sure the backpack can get a little dirty, or I fall over and get a bent page or two, but its nice to be brought.

Usage. Daily readings with some breaks on busy days or specially scripture saturated days (like sundays or at a discipleship camp) where Im read enough already. Im proud to report that I am being used exegetically and have been incorporated into church services on Sundays, choreography on Tuesdays, Bible study on Wednesdays, and youth group on Fridays.

Wear and tear. Stains are becoming a concern, the gold finish on the top of my pages is pretty much nil. Sidenotes are becoming more commen, especially in Revelation. Highlights more or less a thing of the past, mostly restricted to the N.T., but pencil underlines seem to be popularizing. Creased pages are not uncommen, but never ignored. My binding is getting a little sore and my introduction page is about to let go (but its not part of my message anyway).

Problems. My user will often neglect me, or when reading me be thinking of other things. I often have to pierce to the joints and marrow to get the point accross about his issues. Sometimes I am quoted out of context. Sometimes I am used maliciously. Sometimes I am not treasured above all other books. Sometimes I am read in haste. Sometimes I go long without being studied. Sometimes my user has not been saturated with prayer before reading me. But the Spirit is working nevertheless.

I hope you found this report helpful (even though you are omniscient anyway), and I am looking forward to next years' report.
