If I were to pick up Guild Wars right now...

Once i'm done with the semester after my term paper, you guys will see me online.
I think I'll be going with factions, since the novel PVP content intrigues me. It should be a good change of pace from Blizzar brand, which is the whole point. One question b/c I'm too lazy to look it up: are the original classes available in Factions, or will I need to buy the original to roll one of those?
Any news of a combo-pack coming out?
 
idk about a combo, but you get all the proffessions (I think!) in Factions but some skills that you get in Prophecies you can't use unless you have both
 
All 8 professions are available in Factions. However, there are certain skills (magic spells/hexes/enchantments, weapon attack moves, etc...) that are unique to the original (Prophesies) campaign.
