If I were to pick up Guild Wars right now...

...And wanted to be hang with guildies albeit with a low-level character, should I pick up Original Flavor, or go with Factions? Which content are most of you doing stuff in right now?

If some of you feel deja vu reading this, it's cuz I considered leaving WoW for GW a while ago, but then got sucked back. But I'm a lot more serious now! :-)

I go back and forth between factions and the original GW. Right now i am trying to further myself in factions so i can get Kurzick 15k armor.
But i usually farm lots in the original GW.

Precisely what I do. You can usually find me in factions, but when I need some cash I'll be doing a little farming in prophecies.

If you want to have an Assassin or Ritualist, you need Factions.
Either will work, though, if you just wanna hang, cause you can get to the Guild Hall and use Guild chat from either. I think most people are doing Factions stuff now, but mainly that's because it's new. I think given time, it'll even out.

Besides the professions, one thing I've noticed is that GW (Prophesies) is set up more like the typical MMO in that experience and levels take time and work. Factions hands out XP (experience points) much more freely as quest rewards. Levelling up to the cap of lvl20 goes much more quickly in Factions.

Once you hit lvl 20, your XP goes toward earning skill points so you can buy more skills.

I've noticed the same thing...My Assassin made it to Level 13 in *days* rather than *weeks*. The content in Factions is also much more "dense" in that there are more missions within a smaller amount of space, you don't have to run as far to get to the next part.

But as far as the guild goes, I think the forum peeps are skewed more towards Factions 'cuz we're "keeners". I think the reality is that Factions players are the minority. Then again, Factions owners are the people you'll see online more often, so that kind of makes us a "majority".

See, I think Factions is too easy. I'm spending more time in Tyria right now. I mean, level 13 in four or five sessions? Please! I'm not a charity case!

So I'm rebelling and advancing very slowly... :D

But if you want to level very, very fast, go Factions. Of course, if you like PvP, do whichever. You can create lvl 20 PvP characters immediately. (Of course, you won't know what you're doing, and you'll have to "earn" access to the more advanced areas, but guildees will be quite willing to help.

If you go Prophecies, I still have one pre-Sear character, so I'll help. But pre-Sear is easy, and you can get through it fast to join everyone else.

Hey man, any time I'm online feel free to msg me and I'll get together with you in either setting (but I'm not far along in factions). In general the guild is very 'divided' right now between the two settings, which is definitely understandable. It will probably be like this for another month or two, and then I think we'll see more joint activites like before as people complete factions. Best thing to do in the meantime is to msg the guild channel when you get on and let people know what you're doing. Most of the time you shouldn't have any problem finding a guildie to join you. Also, be sure to post here when you're going to do a mission or quest in either setting that you need help with, so folks can plan to join you.

If you like PvP FACTIONS!! I am so Loving factions right now! Alliance Battles are amazing! And the whole reason you lvl faster is the missions are a LOT harder from the beginning!

Well, got all the time bonuses on my first mission, on my first try. Didn't seem hard.

Kinda my point. I've done ONE mission, and I'm level 13. Not even off the Island. That simply shouldn't happen! I haven't even been farming (except for the Tengu mask the first day) or anything. Just quests.

Once you leave the Island everything is for lvl 20's That is why you are lvling so fast. 90% of the game is for lvl 20's. In fact your first 15 Attribute quest is on the Island. so you should leave the Island with close to your full 200 Attribute points.

 I left the island really quick. My assassin is around lvl 16. I am going to go back and try to lvl him some more with quests and mabey redo some missions when i have time.

I'm in the same boat SP, my rit is lvl 16 and having a hard time staying alive on teh mainland. I'll be looking to team up with you for levelling our characters up.

BTW, I completed both of the first two missions on my first attempt, and did the second mission at level 11. :)

Nice btw I left the Island at 13 and stayed off. There are a million 3,000 point quests off the Island and the fact I am a Rit probably helped. I died a lot but I usually did 3 to 4 quests at the same time in about 2 hours I lvled like 5 times.

They're both there. One in the Harbor (after Zen Daijun), and one in the Gardens (after Cho's Estate)
