I saw a pre-order display box for "Left Behind: Eternal Forces" in a Gamestop

Anyway, I thought that was pretty cool. It's the first overtly Christian videogame to be displayed prominently in a secular videogame store that I'm aware of.

Hopefully the people at Left Behind Games can craft a compelling game experience.
 
Yup. I've been tracking it for a long time. There are some goodies associated with pre-ordering, too. Hopefully it holds up in the RTS gameplay department as well as the storyline one.
 
Hahah, i just posted independently about this. Anybody with info? Blurbs on the box mentioned using "prayer" as a weapon or ability in order to renew (?) or change people's hearts, spirit? Something like that? This raises in me questions about whether it's ok to take spiritual truth and parody it in game form. I mean, allegory like narnia is great. I just dont see myself playing a game in which you're simulating "prayer".

I might be up for an RTS based on the military history of the nation of Israel though. That'd be coo.
 
The Left Behind Games website doesn't have too much information out on the game. They've just got the same introductory cinema posted for viewing. It'd be nice if they elaborated a little on game content, especially if release is less than half a year away.

This game could be critical in regards to the future of Christian videogames.
 
I enjoyed the suspense of the Left Behind stories even though the theology is a bit skewed. My problem with Left Behind is the overcommercialism. The thought of a Left Behind game just sounds weird.
 
There are a wide variety of books about the Left Behind universe. There is also a wide assortment of additional products which can be purchased such as the Left Behind devotionals, bible studies, clothing, calendars, greeting cards, CDs.

I'm not really specifically complaining about Left Behind being overcommercialized though. I read and enjoyed most of the main stories and most of the children's stories. I have more of a problem with the commercialization of Christianity. Everyone needs to make money, but there can be a point where the product or the money becomes more important than God.

"If you send your money to me Ill send u a "prayer cloth" imbued with my prayers"......Yeah, I saw this on...hmmm...I think it was TBN. /sarcastic: Man I wonder how much better my life will be as soon as I get my prayer cloth. Maybe I can rub it on my aching knee and it will make the pain go away...:eek: Sorry I couldnt resist. :D
 
I see, Tolkien. Good deal. We agree then. There is a fine line between getting Christianity out and into the mainstream and profiting off of it/watering down the message. I think this game can be a great tool for witnessing IF it is a good game. :)
