I Have Become Edward Elric

I have just discovered the magic of the transmutation stones. Glowing aether is it amazing!

I had some karma gear that I loved the look of, but then I lost said look when I upgraded to a vastly superior piece. Bigger issue than losing the look, however, was being unable to salvage the Minor Rune of Divinity that it had slotted. Turns out you can't salvage karma items. Alas! Then I realized that it's possible to transfer the karma item to the otherwise superior gear... AND keep the look of the old.

It was like winning... on top of winning.

So awesome.

This is no doubt old news to y'all, and I'm way more excited about my find than I should be, but I thought I'd share my enthusiasm anyway. This game just keeps getting better and better. Had my doubts at first, but I'm definitely a fan now. :D

YOU STATE DOG!

In other news, I happen to be Roy Mustang.

Glad you are enjoying the game! Don't try to transmute humans. It won't work.

Yes, I've been thinking about transmutation stones as purely cosmetic items until I just recently realized I could use them to preserve upgrades. I've got a ridiculous stack of the <79 transmutation stones because I didn't need to do that much cosmetic changing, but being able to invest in some higher quality runes and sigils without having them go obsolete or pay for expensive salvage kits has given me a use for them.

Be forewarned that the gold colored ones only work until level 79. Once you involve any piece level 80, you need the silver ones which are far more rare. You can get them from BL Chests (along with other awesome goodies) or buy them with gems. Don't do what I did and use them all up once you get 80, but use them with purpose. I think after world completion and all was said and done, I had 8 and have only gotten one more since then.

Excellent point, Koeril.

I've read that each of the 60+ zones awards one for completion, is that right?

Yeah, I noticed that on the Wiki. That's why I was wondering if it was true or not. That's a little sad that they only come from chance or cash payment. I guess you could pay for them with gold by buying gems, too.

Ever since Halloween I've been just stacking my BL chests and keys in storage and waiting for an optimal time to open them.

Wow how random. I started watching FMA:Brotherhood tonight for the first time. Watched like 5 episodes then checked forums and now this thread makes a ton more sense!

Beware of equivalent exchange! If you get used to it and aren't careful about bringing old looks back to life, it could end up costing you an arm and a leg!
