I can't play on the Wii because American Idol is on...

Well, another Tuesday night and I'm counting down the minutes until House. My wife is watching American Idol and refusing to let me practice Wii Bowling left-handed (with my new Mii, Lefty!).

So, I have to ask: Is it just me, or are the guys in this year's competition just awful? I've only caught snippets of four performances so far, but all four were weak (at best).

I think it's time we put American Idol and all the reality shows to rest and bring intelligent writing back to television. Too bad that will never happen (especially not on Fox).

WHAT!!?!?? Do my ears deceive me? Maybe you haven't heard of 24, Prison Break, or the recently cancelled Vanished (which was the pwnage).
I have yet to hear a positive word about this season of 24 (at least in comparison to other seasons). While I never watched Prison Break, the trailers made it look like a reject from the WB network. I don't recall hearing about Vanished, but if Fox failed to promote the show and then canceled, it was likely a good show.

Fox Network = touch of death for quality shows.

Speaking of quality shows on Fox, I'm concerned that Fox's pattern of waiting three weeks between episodes of House is going to drive away enough viewers to drop the ratings low enough for the show to be canceled. A ridiculous fear? Then consider for a moment that Fox is the only network capable of the incompetence that led to the cancellation of Futurama.

And yet According to Jim is still on the air. Maddening.

i like watchin AI when "are you smarter than a 5th grader" is on next :D

Yeah, that's on Thursdays, now.

Tek, other networks are much worse about breaks between episodes. Heroes is going on hiatus until late April, and Lost had a gap between October and February, so it's not uncommon for episodes to be played at an inconvenient time.

Two things. According to Jim comes on every day here at 6. I run screaming from the TV when it comes on if I can't find my remote.

Secondly, Futurama will have new episodes I think this fall. I'm pretty sure it's going to be Adult Swim only that carries the new ones, but yes they will be out there.

Vanished was very good. You can watch episodes on www.myspace.com/fox. I wouldn't be surprised if it was picked up in a year or so by TBS or FX or USA or ... I think you get my point. Jerry Brookheimer is a creative genius -- he should have his own TV channel.

Did anyone watch Justice? It was a show about a top lawyer company and the work they did. The trials were cool and the crimes were neat. At the end of the episode they showed what actually happened at the crime scene -- sometimes it was different from the actual verdict! Very neat concept and a very nice show... *sigh* cancelled of course. But, my hat goes off to Jerry Brookheimer.

True, but there's only one break (albeit a long one) between sections of the season. With House, it's one week on, two weeks off, two weeks on, four weeks, so on, and so forth.

Know what's worse? Psych and Monk taking a break last fall and starting up again in JANUARY only to end last week, and they won't be back until summer.

I never liked Psych. But Monk is my hero! I only watch episodes with my girlfriend and she comes home this weekend for spring break. I plan on watching all of 'em I got stored on TiVo.
