Hypnotism on Jerry Springer

I saw a Comedian Hypnotist on Jerry Springer and what
do you Christian's think of Hypnosis? I'm a bit nervous
about Hypnotism.
 
I think some people are very open to the power of suggestion.

I heard a hypnotist describe hypnotism this way: Its like a Jedi mind trick, works only on the weak minded.
 
what are u talking about hypnotism is pretty cool, and its not only for the week mind. It would probobly work on u God_peon. Its used to help with memory loss, for amnesia patients. Not all of it is for entertainment , to make u bark like a dog, etc.

This discussion reminds me of the discussion I overheard between a blind man and a man who was colour blind: They were argueing over the colour of the sky.
 
I heard from a hypnotist that a person has to be willing to allow it. Most of those using hypnotherapy usually allow it, makes sense.
 
also amnesia is total crap, if you do any study up on it, then you would realize that you can not forget something if you have thoughta bout it for more than 19 seconds, you just need something to recall the information.

(No i have not done the study this comes from the pysc major that i know ,AKA my boss ;P )

I'd like five different big sites saying that, please.

I think hypnotism can be okay, such as when used to catch a criminal.
 
I wouldn't get hypnotized for the same reason I wouldn't get drunk. I don't ever want to not be in control of what I"m doing. I"ll watch it though....(hypnotism that is)
 
I think hypnotism is okay for psych. purposes. For entertainment though...that's pretty sketchy. In any case, I'm not sure it can be compared to being drunk. I've heard that, while under hypnosis, you won't do anything you'd object to doing anyway.
 
I sort of agree with Ember (future Mrs. Tek7). I mean they're doing it for entertainment, not for a bad purpose.. I don't think they over-do any stuffs so i guess its alright.
 
Actually, what I was trying to say, is that I think it's okay for psychological/psychiatric purposes, but for entertainment, I'm not so sure. Maybe it depends. On who's doing it, what they're doing, and the company you're keeping. Hrm.
