Howdy ppl

Howdy! I'm pretty much a Counter-Strike guy, but lately I've been getting into games like Neverwinter Nights, Dungeon Seige, etc. DAoC looks incredible, but the monthly fee turns me away. Do any of you think that the fee will eventually be waived? Or am I just out of luck?

Unfortunatly no. There will always be a fee associated with this game. But for a good reason, and believe me, its worth it.

True, its not fast paced killing like in Counter-Strike. But there are many features to Camelot that make the game truly worthwhile. The graphics for one as the game continues to improve graphically as it begins to make everquest look like stick figures. The gameplay is tremendously varried from killing things to going on quests or missions to defending your homeland from other player characters who want to destroy you. The classes and races are becoming more varied and you can customize your class a little bit on your playing style.

So why the fee? What makes it worth paying 12 bucks a month? Well, DAoC is professionally run, not some lag server with wierd mods. You can choose from a variety of servers, normal, roleplay, player v player, and even co-operative where there is peace in the realms. The game continues to grow and expand with the addition of low level battlegrounds, graphical improvements and dungeon additions in Shrouded Isles, upcoming player housing and guild buildings that you can create and customize, and coming soon, the ability to explore new underwater dungeons in an Atlantis type expansion.

Its why I moved from Half-life/Unreal Tournament to Dark Ages of Camelot. Its constantly growing, changing, and improving. Plus, its one of the few games you can actually form such a Christian guild as ours and preach the gospel to other players! We have fellowship with each other, adventures, chats, complaints, and even occationally hold prayer services and church services.

To me, the fun of Camelot is only as limited as your imagination and it is definatly worth the fee to play.

Anyhoo. that's my 5 cents. :) Oh. And I created an ingame music video if you want to check it out. It should give you a small feel for the game if you are still interested. You can find it here:

Hey Tasty,

Just wondering, how do you like Neverwinter? I was thinking about picking that up as it looks interesting and fun to play as well as intriguing with the world building aspect of it.

Cheers!

Neverwinter is a great game, though since it uses the newest (I'm pretty sure) D&D rules, it sometimes gets complicated/confusing for a non-D&Der (*ahem* -->me). The story is great, and a there's a good amount of stuff to explore. I haven't heard much about the world editor, but with the popularity online I would assume that it's pretty good. But, I played about 30 hours of it and decided it was better to sell it to my bro b/c it was getting in the way of my school work

For the 3rd person type of game that it is, I think I actually prefer something like Diablo II/Dungeon Siege instead.

I recently picked up Morrowind (now that my upgraded comp can handle it) and I'm thoroughly enjoying it, now that I have the time this summer. No multiplayer, but much better than Everquest in my opinion.

I've been trying to talk my parents into the investment for DAoC though...not sure if it'll work but I'll keep plugging. I've been mulling through these forums and the church services/evangelism stuff looks exciting. Hopefully I'll get to join you all some time.

P.S. I enjoyed that vid Malohaut. Nice work

I've got Morrowind! Mom had bought it for herself but couldn't figure it out, so she gave it to me. That's a pretty fun game. I have an armored monk. hehe

But between Dark Ages of Camelot and beta testing Star Wars Galaxies, I haven't been playing much of Morrowind.

But when and if you do come to camelot, go to the server Percival and the realm Albion to start off with and I'll help you any way I can. :)

Have a great and blessed day!

The world builder for NWN is phenomonal. I have downloaded some custom stuff that people have created and it is just mind blowing the imagination people put into these. The fact that you can join a game and have a live DM controling the action makes it even more fun. If you ever were into pen and paper games, NWN has some strong appealing things to it.

On a side note, Dungeon Siege was supposed to be very simiar but I don't know how far that one went. I played the game but got bored with it before they had finished created the builder stuff.

Hey Malo,

What's Star Wars Galaxies like? Is it going to hold up to the hype? And the second question is, does it feel like it's ready to be released or are they going to release it like DAoC, Anarchy Online, Shadowbane, etc without some major features that are supposed to be in there?

How is its stability as well? After playing DAoC and seeing how smooth the launch went and then seeing how poor the launch went with other games, I think the bar has been raised in terms of what people expect from an initial launch.

Just wondering

Star Wars Galaxy. Hmm. Well, I can't say much because of the TOS for beta testing, but I will say that its not yet ready for release. They haven't finished programming some aspects of the game yet.

I like it so far except for the down times of course. I haven't gotten to the point where I can really RvR/PvP yet but I'm working on it. So far, its a lot of fun and it keeps your attention. As I level more and explore the higher leveled aspect of the game, I'll definatly keep you posted whether its a must try or not.. Stability? Too early to tell. They're still doing a lot of patching up right now.
