How to blur or overlay a moving face in video?

So I managed to create some picture-in-picture videos using a trial version of Corel VideoStudio X2.

Then I realized that I don't want to put my face on my videos, since they'll be available to the public.

I thought about picking up a cheap mask for the videos, but any of the option I've found cost more than I want to spend or are downright creepy.

I then thought I'd like to blur my face, but none of the software I have installed does that.

I even messed with the webcam software that came with my computer to see if it provides any options. Nope.

So, aside from dropping several hundred dollars on professional video editing software, what are my options?

I'm not against using a mask. I just don't want it to look awkward or creepy (which may not be possible).

Then wouldn't you want to use a mask? :p (sorry Tek I had too! You left yourself wide open for it).

Balaclava Tek, BALACLAVA! It's what all good spies are wearing.... well that and fedoras, oooh I want one so bad :p .

What are you exactly doing in these videos anyway? Couldn't you focus on what you are doing excluding your head completely? Lots of videos of "how to do something" just show what is being worked on and have voice over.

I am so going Pyro next time we're both on a pub TF2 server. :p

I tried a makeshift balaclava for a test video and it looked kinda...well, a little dorky.

Playing games using motion controls (e.g. Wii Sports).

I could, but (as strange as this may sound) the shot wouldn't look balanced then. An odd complaint, I know.

I never would have guessed the t-shirt ninja mask would look dorky :p.

Tek watching someone play the Wii will always equal some dorkyness so it's going to be unavoidable (unless you are a cute girl then no one cares :p). IMO I say embrace your inner dork not oppress him and make the videos deliberately silly. Since you can have the anonymity of wearing a mask you can always say it isn't you anyway. Use a name like "The Mighty Gerbil" so people won't know it's you making those embarrassing spelling errors and social faux pas, wait that name is taken...

I wouldn't be worried about it making to look like you are missing a few screws compared to it making you appear as a religious extremist.

In my opinion blurring your face would be just as awkward as wearing a mask.

I vote for avoiding both and showing your face like a normal person. =P

Well, the bottom line is that the combine knew who Gordon Freeman was - he couldn't blur his head or wear a mask.

For Tek to do so would be an injustice to his kin he never knew he had (and it would be very awkward).

When your busy killing the combine you often times have to forgo shaving for a little bit.
QFT.

And I never thought I looked anything like Billy Mays. Not saying I don't, just...hadn't thought of it.

You should get something like a full body bear suit. That would be awesome. :D

Joking aside though, I know of nothing like that. D:

Cant help but notice how Tek took his image down off the ToJ.cc website.
Shh! It's all part of maintaining my mystique.

Maybe if there's a 2010 CGA convention, you all could meet me there and find out if I really look like Gordon Freeman or not.

Back on topic: I've abandoned the picture-in-picture projects for the time being. My next PIP video may include footage of Wii Sports Resort (and, of course, footage of me playing Wii Sports Resort).
