How I might have totalled my car by bumping a curb

I'm sure you thought the topic title was a mistake. I'm sure you thought to yourself, WBK is delusional or something.

Think again.

I went to the Lightning v Predators hockey game on Dec 10th with my wife, my brother and his wife, my sister-in-law and her fiance. Driving back, I wanted to get to know the fiance a little better, so we drove together.

This fellow dwarfed me. Astrod00d can attest (since he's met me in person) that I am a huge man myself, about 6'3", and over 300 pounds. NFL offensive lineman size. This guy looks like a 6'5" version of Warren Sapp, and has to be pushing 425. We had close to 750 pounds of Florida beef in the front seat of my '03 Saturn.

Of course this was a bad idea, but I thought nothing of it at the time. That is, until we started scraping bottom whenever we hit one of the numerous potholes on Kennedy Blvd (the road outside the Forum, where the Lightning play). I then cut a corner too close, and ran up on a 4 inch curb for a second or two. Who hasn't done that?

Well, since that day the alignment was a little bit off, so I took the car to the dealership this morning to have them check it out. They called me back and told me that the FRAME IS BENT, and it would run about 6-8k to fix-- but that I should contact my insurance company, since a collision definitely caused it. State Farm rocks, in case anyone was wondering, and they're paying the claim. However, according to kbb.com, my car in "good" condition has a trade-in value of $8140, so the insurance people may just total it out.

Moral of the story: do NOT let a WWE tag-team sized duo sit in the front seat of a Saturn.

Lol, my sister's friend's sister bumped a curb, and the car jumped up and knocked a street lamp. A few seconds later, she heard a CRASH!!! and when she looked behind her and she saw that the lamp had tipped over and smashed allllll over the street.

...but there were no cops around, luckily. ;)

heh, my sister totaled her car by "driving over a sidewalk curb straight on too fast"... or thats the story she gave my parents anyway. I'm sure my parents don't bother to investigate as it is like her 9th car she totaled, and she moved out a couple months ago.

aha geeze and i thought having my dad (240 pounds) and 4 teens (around 700 pounds altogether) getting up a hill in an 85' mercedes on an icey road was bad O_O
