House passes Bill to stifle expansion of Health Care and Student Aid Programs

consider the source. msnbc is not the most objective place for news. Verify that at foxnews or another more conservative site before beleiving everything you see there. Same goes for the other way around.

Actually, the article is from the Associated Press. There's nothing "subjective" to be had in the Bill actually be approved by the house.

I fail to see what the problem with this bill is.

Our federal government has no Constitutional mandate to provide for the health or education of the populace. I'm of the firm opinion that all government subsidies to people for living expenses and health care need to end.

I disagree. I think our social system needs a safety net to catch unfortunate people. However, there needs to be a system to differentiate between those who need welfare programs because they are unlucky, and those who need welfare programs because they are lazy.

And that is the hard part.

It is not the responsibility of the government to 'bail' people or businesses out for bad choices or for bad luck. That is what family and charities are for.
