Here is an idea

I thought this might be note worthy, a frind of mine who played GW b4 getting WoW he started a monk in Pre-searing, and never moved on in the game. instead what he did was grew to level 8, to this you might say "Dude everyone does that." well here is something you didn't expect: he has only done 1 quest. he hasn't even gotten his second profession. What he intends to do is be able to take on the char on the north side of the wall until they don't give him any exp anymore, then he will start doing quests. fun idea, he will be roughly level 14 b4 moving on.

Actually if he dies to the char a few time after he stops getting xp the char actually gain XP and than he gets XP again so he can make lvl 20 in Pre Searing.

In theory you can get to lvl20 that way (according to more than once source, it has actually been done). Once the Charr don't give you xp anymore, you start training (make them chase you) back to the rez shrine. Let them kill you until they level up. Once they level up, you will be able to get XP from killing them. Once you get close to lvl20, you will probably need to leave the game running afk for hours at a time to let the charr level up to at least 15 so you get the xp from them.

If you plan on doing this though, wait until you get to about lvl 19 before doing any of the quests, you still get the same xp for the quest, but you won't need to wait as long for the charr to level up to get the last little bit to lvl 20. Once you dominate in the academy, you should be able to solo right through the shiverpeaks.

I've been hearing about this strategy for presear level-up for a while, but I have to say that I have never felt the desire to actually do it. Other than the novelty of having a lvl20 presear, not sure what good it would do. The down side for me is that you won't have many skills and you will already be leveled out of the Ascalon Arena as soon as you get there.

It has been done. I used to see the same two monks in presaering. Both were level 20 and they would hang out at Fort Ranik in their black dyed collectors armor. It's only recently that I found out that you can let a mob repeatedly kill you to allow it to level up before you kill it.

I would have never thought about that. But to me that would take too much time. It would be cool to be among the few lvl 20's in presearing though.

I'd have to go with baron... a complete waste of time.
seriously... that's a huge amount of fighting the same guys over and over and over again.

Can you imagine the reaction by your partner and the other team when you do the kill count PvP to go post-sear? Still, I would think it would get boring. But it's funny that it's actually possible.

There is always someone out there looking to do the strangest stuff!

Computer Gaming World had a little sidebar thing a few issues back, in their Factions preview, about "How to get to Level 20 Pre-Searing."

Basically, it was:
  • 1. Save your quests until the higher levels
  • 2. Farm like crazy.
  • 3. Die A LOT so the monsters you're facing gain XP and go up in level.
  • 4. Rinse and Repeat steps 2 and 3 until you're ub3r.
