HELP ME TO UNDERSTAND...

It was a bit disappointing to sign up for MC a week in advance only to be requested to leave at Rag so that someone else with better dps and fire resist could fight him (this person had not signed up for MC). I understand that downing Rag is important but so is everyone getting a chance to be there.

My dilemma now is; do I bother to sign up anymore? Is this going to be a guild practice?

I know I probably could have said something at the time I was requested to leave, but I was a bit offended that it was even asked to be honest. I do hope nobody else has had to leave an instance for the same type of reason and I hope this doesn't happen to anyone else. Unless it is asked and someone volunteers, then I can see people changing places, but to sign up and set aside time, be excited to get into the raid at all... it is very disappointing.

I understand that these bosses are hard and people want to down them, but how do you get to the point of downing them if you can't be there. By the time people get their stuff and have downed the boss in order for the others to move up, then the higher geared people move on to other instances and nobody wants to run the instances (ie: BRD or UBRS= it's hard to find people to do those instances much anymore-not impossible as I've been on some, but harder)

actually I think I replaced you. I had signed up since monday only to have a RL issue come up and forced me to be late tonight so I was moved to que. I was asked if I could come in and help on rag because Rag is mostly a fire resist fight and I sit at 318 FR buffed. It has happened in the past too mostly for Rag and FR, we have had better geared people replace low FR people to ensure the success of the fight. I was told you had agreed to it so I thought it was voluntary though, im sorry

I am going to attempt to set the record straight, to the best of my abilities.

For two months before the run, we attempted to recruite people on the Stonemaul forums. We became the laughing stalk of Stonemaul. Riduculed because we were a christian guild trying to get a MC run together, and we barely had three priests to our name at the time.

For a month before the first official MC date, we would go into MC after the Holicron Knights clear it, with 20 people and learn how to deal with trash mobs. We learned how to take down Firelords, back then we would have 10 to 12 lava spawns during the time it took us DPS the firelord down. It took us 5 minutes to take down the giant groups. We would go to the double destroyes and practice having tanks pick up loose destroyers when tanks died.

The friday group, knowns as Team Eternity, has been running together for 5 months. TE's first hurdle was that on the first scheduled night, the guild didn't even have 40 of its own member sign up. Only about 25 signed up even though some 60 people said they were insterested. Thankfully, the night before I was running a MC run and bumped into Redscorpion, who belonged to Sword of Fate at the time. His guild managed to scratch together the remaining 15 people we needed to actually start running MC. SoF has since disolved and many of its members have been absorbed into Redeemed or Sanctification.

The first official week, on the first Friday, we scheduled 4 hours. That was the max amount of time we would spend in MC on a Friday night. It took the whole 4 hours to take down Magmadar. Thats only the second boss in MC. On Saturday, we scheduled 6 hours to continue in MC. During that 6 hours, we could only clear the third boss, that being Gehannas. We made 5 attempts on Garr that night then the warriors said enough is enough, please stop asking us to fight the fights we have no hope to win. 10 hours of MC and only 3 bosses to show for it.

The next week, we spent the same 10 hours in MC and managed to down Baron Geddon. We were feeling good. The next two weeks, we stumbled on Garr and couldn't get him down. And that was after spending 10 hours each week. Finally, the third week after downing Garr the first time, we managed to down him and take down Baron Geddon and Shazzrah as well.

The next week, we had a spectacular week and not only managed to down the first six bosses, we managed to down the next two bosses as well. This is 6 weeks now into our MC run. For the next two weeks we struggled with getting Sulfuron down. One week we could, the next week we couldn't. Finally, like Garr, we had a breakthrough and got past that hurdle only to run into Majordomo. By this time we've spent 7 weeks in MC. Little did we know at that time, that the amount of time it took us to get this far would be the amount of time it would take us to learn the Majordomo fight.

We spent 7 weeks on Domo. Each week we would spend 6 to 8 hours clear to him only to spend the next hour wiping on him, over and over and over and over again. We would wipe 3 to 4 times a week on Majordomo. That means over the 7 weeks, we somewhere between 21 and 28 times. About half the wipes we experienced in MC happened right here on this boss. I can't even begin to describe the immense frustation I and the team was dealing with. And then finally, on the eigth week, we broke through the roadblock, just like we did on Sulfuron and Garr before. Upto now, we have spent 14 weeks in MC.

The next hurdle was Rag, and Rag made it painfully clear that if you didn't have the FR, stamina or DPS, he wasn't going to die. Our first attempts only got him to 60 to 70% before the sons were spawned. Most people were to tired to make any real attempt. We tried doing the first 8 bosses on Friday to leave on domo and rag on saturday. But the people who signed up for Saturday had no clue about how to defeat domo, so saturdays run was as if we had gone 8 weeks into the past. Eventually, we did take him down, but we had some good help from the Holicron Knights. The week after though, we couldn't take Rag down.

At that time, I had a brain storm. We couldn't have the new to MC people come in on the Domo\Rag fight. They were not geared for it nor were they experienced. They also had not chance to get the gear, because all the bosses prior to these last two were downed the night before. So, instead of having the new people come in late in the game, I decided to have a way for them to come in earlier. That is, have them come in Wednesday and start clearing the bosses appropriate for their gear and experience. The idea was that this new Wednesday team, which has been dubbed, Team Infinity, would eventually take over all of MC. Also, what TI couldn't finish on Wednesday, TE would come in and finish on Friday. This put the experienced and geared people right at the forefront of being able to take down Rag. They wouldn't be too tired to be effective and it was on the one day they said they were willing to raid on.

TI is starting where TE started but with alot of help from experienced TE members. As people turn 60, gain their pre-MC gear, the will move into TI and take the place of an experienced TE member. Before that happens, TI itself will start MC with experienced TE members at the helm, ensuring early success. This would ensure a gradual moving away from MC of the people ready for BWL while ensuring that MC will be there for the new to 60 and new to MC people. Eventually, in the future, the same transition will happen as TE moves to AQ40 and TI into BWL. New level 60 rogues will replace the experienced rogues on Wednesday. New level 60 warriors will replace the experienced. TI will eventaully be its own team without or with very few TE members.

In all fairness, to whom do todays Ragnoras fights belong to? I would argue that the honor of the current Rag fights belong to those who spent 7 weeks wiping 30ish times on Domo. I would argue it belongs to those who wondered on the night before our first official MC run, if it would happen because we only had 25 people signed up. I would argue it belongs to those 20 who went into MC to learn how to deal with trash and handle crises and face 10 to 20 gold repair bills without any chance of recouping them.

Does this mean that Schmeea, or Wallawinski, or Badwinn will never see a Rag fight? No, by no stretch of ones imagination does it mean that. If a new to MC person is asked to step aside, its not because we wish to dishonour them. Its because we are looking to honor those who have fought a very long fight for many months to be where we are today. I'd hope that those who would be asked to stay their sword (so to speak) would be honored to allow those who have yearned for these fights for 5 months their chance.

Schmeea and Julienne and many others, you have all just started your journeys in MC. In the journey is where the fun is. In the melding and meshing as a group is where you will find joy. I hope you will find understanding as to why people are asked to step aside. Do not worry about stepping aside for somebody who is just waiting in the side lines because they didn't want to do the work to get to Rag and then be pulled in at the last moment so they can get this piece of loot or that piece. Goblit and I have no time for those people and would never ask you to step aside for somebody who was not willing to put forth the effort. (we are human and sometimes somebody does slip through the cracks, but believe me, when that happens its not because we wanted it to.)

We have been raiding that long? jese louise, i have been raiding about 4/5 months i believe, very longgggg time lol.

I was there for that 1st run on 5/19, and having come from a Horde guild that downed Domo, it was a long painful experience to end up where we are now. Just like Aves said, I get the most joy from the journey. No doubt it is awesome to see Rag go down, but it was the 5 months getting to know my brothers and sisters, watching each of them get their 1st epics, being there for every 1st boss kill, the progression makes the ending that much sweeter.

Having a 2nd MC team, Team Infinity, is a neat idea because it will allow those who are new to the guild or new to 60, to get a piece of this joy. Instead of being led through MC by purple-filled experts, they get to experience the progression, learning of the fights, and watching ppl with greens/blues evolve to purples.

The decision to queue someone, or ask them to step out for a fight is always a tough one. There is bound to be some hurt feelings, but it is one of those "take one for the team" kind of things. Fortunately and unfortunately our Friday-night raids are very popular. We have waiting lists now and often have 8-9 of one class who want in. In order to make it fair, and also honor those who have put in the most time, we do have to swap ppl around. Thats why it says on the raid sign-ups that you do not get your position because you signed up first. The Raid leaders and the Class Officers get to make final calls.

I am sorry you had to be one of the ones last night, Schmeea. Many have had to make this same sacrifice in the past and there will still be some in the future. But it is this sacrifice that you will see come back to honor you, when you are in the opposite position and are asked to step in to replace someone else one day.

For the record, I did inform you about the situation very early in the raid and we did award you full DKP for the Rag fight. I want to thank you for accepting that willingly and not making my job any harder then it was =-)

do I bother to sign up anymore? Is this going to be a guild practice?
Yes, by all means do. Every bit of MC experience you get is worth it, every point of DKP is worth it. It all builds on each other. MC is not a one-time thing, it is a process over months and months. (it is not a guild practice but it is a Team practice)

You are here at a very convenient time, you get the chance to run with TI as well as TE. To use my friend, just for example, it took me 5 months of MC raiding every single week for my 11 epics, it took Treebranch 5 weeks of raiding to get his 8!!! Is that fair? Sure it is. We are all part of the same team. But 5 months = 5 weeks? No and therefore if there was a situation where there was priority to be given I would probably win over Treebranch.

Anyways, thats just a example, not the best but it shows that you should be there for as much as you can and you will be rewarded quickly in these days. ;)

It is also important to note that a boss is only on farm status after it has been killed three times consecutively. After last nights Rag fight, Rag can finally be defined as being on farm status (10/27, 10/20, 10/13, Rag was not downed on 10/06). So the raid leaders were doing what was right to ensure success and get Rag on farm status by bringing in appropriately geared players. Now that he is on farm, it opens up the opportunity to slowly start bringing in new people to learn and experience Rag.

THANK YOU FOR REPLIES

:) Most of what has been responded I agree with. (I should say that I am not angry at what happened, I do understand and would not want to stand in the way of people who have earned the time and right to be there at the end) People with more time into MC should have the opportunities that they've earned. Hence the dkp and the way you've set up the runs. Frequently I've passed on items so that people with the sets can work to complete them, so it's not necessarily the items I'm there for. I enjoy the company, the learning, the fun being with a large group and playing the game. I did agree to leaving the raid and would do so again. It doesn't mean I can't be disappointed.

However, I do not see this guild (Sanctification included) large enough yet to sponser two whole separate teams for 40 man instances which you did explain. You are limiting TI's time to one night a week and that time might not be (is not in my case) available for some people. Wednesday nights is a very, very popular church night for a lot of Christians. Your requirements stated minimum of 125 FR gear (now I have 133 which I've been diligently working on for 2 months now, since I joined Redeemed and in order to get the next piece from a quest I currently have, I need to down bosses in MC)

I had a Christian guild for a very long time on Gorgannash (Aslan's Annointed) and faced the same ridicule you spoke of. We've all been there; we've all worked to get where we are (I have 2 60's I've not been able to do much with since I wouldn't get invited to raids being the 'stuffed shirt old lady' I am)

Out of the 40-60 people that I've seen go to the higher level instances; I see only a very small percentage of the same people helping others up the ladder. My applause and whole hearted appreciation goes out to them. I hear a lot of "I'm tired of that instance"; "I hate that instance"; "I've been in that place so many times I'm sick of it".... yet we all appreciated the help we got when we went through them for our first trials. Times seem to be a very large issue in these regards. I hear people who are on later, earlier etc.... that will always be an issue until we grow large enough to satisfy more time groups. I also understand that Redeemed is getting new officers, raid co-ordinator among them, so regular raids have not been happening.

Yes, TE has spent a lot of time earning the rights to be in on the runs. Raise the standards of TE nights to higher FR gear and items if that is an issue. Make a few other times for TI to go into MC for 'trash/training' runs, even if nobody finishes off the bosses so that others might have a chance to experience the thrill of learning; work together on fights and have a chance at drops.

Please do not forget that when people have taken the time to move 60's over from another server; there is a reason it is being done. More than likely, being the Christains we are, we have not liked the types of raids that go on so have lost out on them for months on end... (in my case I've had one 60 for almost 1 1/2 years and Schmeea now for approx 6 months) we might not have actually been in MC for 5+ months on end, that doesn't necessarily mean that we haven't put time in or had the desire to do so.

Like I said, I would gladly stand aside again for someone who has worked hard to get where they have gotten. I do not place any blame, anger or bad feelings on anyone in this happenstance, but needed to let you know that maybe it should be looked at for other people in the future who might also feel they have worked hard to get where they are too.

Your input and insight is very important and very welcome. Thank you for taking the time to share it with us. I know that it has given me a good refresher on some proper perspectives.

Although I have run many instances in the past for other guildies to get what they need, I can always improve in this area. (lately I have just not had enough play time for what I would like.) I need to also remember that there are still many who need help on the road to 60 as well.

You are right that we do not have enough yet to field 2 separate 40-man runs, but many raiders are able to do both nights and are taking their main or alt to TI to make sure it is a successful run. Like you said, Wed. nights is bad for me due to church activities. If it was a Tuesday or Thursday, I would be there. But alas that is how it goes; I wish I had more playtime, but a new job and twins on the way are taking front seat these days.

Hmmm very interesting what is being said here. Schmeea I think you should not worry as your day of glory shall come. Everything in this game always involves waiting and it is something I really trying to practice before I get into raiding, pvp, or anything else you do at lvl 60. Before I became lvl 60, all I wanted to do is to become lvl 60. Now when you are lvl 60 all you can think about is having the best weapons, the best armor, and an epic mount. When I first went into MC all I could ever feel was greed and desire. All I ever wanted was the armor and weapons that dropped there. If I went in MC now and got a nice paladin armor piece I would feel like I didn't deserve it since I have not done any MC as much as the people who put so much time and effort into it. I don't think I do have the time to be in raids. I don't mind either since the game does offer other things to do. I think TE and TI are doing well to try to get everyone to enjoy raiding that is interested. But I guess we have to accept the rejection we might get from the leaders if we never meet the requirements. Maybe Blizzard might have made some flaws in this game where they turn raiding from an online social event to an overload of fighting against overpowered monsters. Well maybe things will get better, but until then I will stay out of MC, wait for the expansion, and maybe make another low level horde character. ;)

Whatever you do in this game always have patience and a cool mind. Anything is possible all you need is the strong will to do it.

I am glad I took the time to read all of these posts; they have helped me get some insight into how things work. By the looks of it, I think more people will try to make a small but significant amount of time to help others. I have seen many players help lower levels make it past areas that they were stuck in, and I'm glad to see it. Schmeea herself has led Abital, Galatians and I through 2 instances, and I have tried to help out when I could. I believe this is what it means to be a Christian; to put others before yourself, and I'm very happy to see others here doing just that.

It would not be my intention to ever diliberatly hold people back who have obviously put forth their best efforts. Its very hard to find things and times that work for most people most of the time. I will continue to strive to find solutions where ever, and when ever possible.

well schmeea i understand your frustration, for i don't get to be in very many mc raids or raids that often due to work schedule, and to finally to get to be in a raid and asked to leave at the last boss had to be disappointing.Trust me i have had that frustration and now iam dealing with it by just accepting the situation and by also reminding myself that this is a game and not to take stuff personal, it is hard but we will work together and help each other out.

Being switched out is somthing no one likes, but raid leaders do it in order to further progress the team. As a person gains better armor/weapons/resists, the likelyhood of them being switched out becomes less. No one likes to do it, I have been switched out before and I can speak from expirience. The more established you get means that you can attend more boss encounters in a raid.

680 DKP spent in MC and I still show up!

Schmeea,

I can understand your flustration, but again it is a team effort. I know I have have stepped out of the raid so others could come in and I have also been brought into the raid for specific items. I was one of the original 15 that ran with HK. Samuraij was ready to go to BWL many moons ago, but I stood him down for the interest of the guild and what has become known as TE raiders. I brought Puff in to start raiding MC to be on the same playing field as the others, and as you can tell by the amount of DKP spent I show up week after week to help others or give up my spot if necessary so we progress. I also have made it an effort to help outside MC when I can. I noticed some needed UBRS as they had been trying for a week to get a run. I now normally only run UBRS to Rend as I would like the carapace and thats it in UBRS for me, but I think I have run it 3 times and lead it twice now to help guildys get attuned and able to go on to Ony and MC, what do I usually get for it; a big fat repair bill and time lost where I could be farming for gold to support my own toons needs. Right now I can say all my toons are desperately low on funds but I am not complaining I willingly do this to help guildys and teamates. The tone of your original post concerned me as you phrased it as GUILD practice. TE is made up players from several guilds, some former Redeemed, some not. The raid make up is at the discretion of raid leaders if I am asked to step out and I have been then I go as it is no reflection on me just what the raid needs at that time. Schmeea you are a great player and the FR will come to you in no time; so I would not stop signing up to go; the Rag fight is the only fight in MC I can think of that is gear dependant other than BWL. I am happy you xfered you toon over to play with us, but since you werent doing MC with us since May, there will be need a little catch up time. But I promise I will do all I can to help you and others when I can and I will glady step out for you in MC!

Huggles

Samuraij aka Powderpuff
