Help me get to playing cs

I just reinstalled cs, and downloaded steam, but everytime I go to get onto a server, it quits responding and I have to ctrl+alt+del it. Take ToJ server for example: When I go to play, it verifies data, and locks up on the "precaching information" Part.

My steam should work (I have updated version). I don't know what's wrong. Does anyone have any ideas?

im' sure he isn't, but i thin kthe case is, the steam is messed up. Try dling a new copy (same problem happened to me, and i had to download 9 diff copies till it worked)
