Someone slap me!! I'm getting an urge to save up for a Wii!!!!!

It doesn't help that I go over to this friend of mine's house and play it. Oh noes...

Now for the real point: does anyone know when there'll be a price drop? (probably not for a while though, huh?)

I mean... for... another friend... who wants it.. and is trapped inside the body of another friend...

i wouldt expect a price job on an already cost efficient console

I would say it may be a while before you see a price drop, but let's look at some history, shall we?

PlayStation 2

Launch, 10/00: $299
4/02: $199
8/03: $179
5/04: $149
4/06: $129

Xbox

Launch, 11/01: $299
5/02: $199
5/03: $179
3/04: $149

GameCube

Launch, 11/01: $199
5/02: $149
9/03: $99

Looks like it may be a while before we see any significant price drop on an already-cheap system, especially since they're moving these things at a pretty good clip (something like 6 million units made so far?). Instead of waiting for a drop, I'd just buy it now. =)

Also note that the Xbox 360 still hasn't dropped in price (and it's been roughly 16 months since launch).

*slaps C$* You don't want a Wii! *slaps him again* YOU DON'T WANT A WII!

...I don't think it's working.

*roars in fury as Laz chains me to the wall*

BLARGEM SMARGEM I MIGHT AS WELL JUST BUY IT SOON OR SOMETHING BLARGEM SMARGEM *roars* *is slapped with a salmon*

Now now, children, break it up.

That's interesting data, SirThom. It makes me kick myself in the head for spending $400 on a 360 :p

Funny? No, that's sad. :)

*beats C$ with a tuna* You don't want a Wii! You want a - a PS3. ;)

I'm so used to PC gaming I doubt I'll ever buy a console.

maybe I'll just get a PS2 :p
I bought both (a Wii and a PS2). I enjoy both. :)

As for the price drop, it won't be coming any time soon. The Wii is $150 cheaper than the Xbox 360 and half the price of a PS3. There's no pressure on Nintendo to drop the price when consumers are purchasing the units before they can be stocked on the shelves.

But it'll probably happen some day...in the distant future. Maybe you can pick up a Wii after the price reduction and the release of Duke Nukem Forever. :p

EDIT: If you're wanting to purchase a Wii, type "wii availability" into Google and search for a forum thread with current information on what retailer is getting Wii consoles and when.

nintendo, super nintendo, nintendo 64, gamecube, playstation 2, gameboy advance sp (2), gameboy micro, ds lite, regular ds, and a nintendo wii - are the consoles we currently own.

my husband has a huge collection of nes, snes, and n64 games from when he was younger that we have saved! When we are on the go he plays the ds lite quite a bit, I like the micro.

We also just went wireless at our house so are enjoying the wifi games for ds and also the capabilities on the wii....

Needless to say we are big time gamers!!!! Because on top of all the consoles we also have three desktop computers and a laptop.

I think you're missing your Halo!

That's awesome you have all your old systems. I recently found my N64 (stashed in my xbox box) and I have an original Nintendo I bought of a friend a few years back. Of course, I have my most recent systems including the GCN, xBox, and the 360.

i sold my old nes/snes/sega for a dreamcast. then i sold that for a g-cube i think. which i sold to get a psp. and then i got a g-cube for my birfday last year.
