Heaven Bound in the local newpaper

I downloaded the demo of this game, but can't seem to get through the gate!!!  The prophet says to go to the wicket gate and knock.  I only found one gate in that first map, and nothing I do makes me knock there.  Has anybody else played this game?  If so, could you please tell me how to get past the first board???  Thanks! BTW, hubby tried too and couldn't figure it out.
 
I got the key, which brings you into that building. I went in there and flipped the switch. Upon leaving the building I went straight to the gate, but still couldn't open it??? Am I doing something wrong? I tried right clicking and left clicking and jumping up and down...LOL!! But nothing seemed to work. Do I have to go straight to the gate with the key? Then what do I do, right click? Thanks for your help. I'd really like to try to figure this game out.
 
Once you have that key and flip the switch you should be able to leave. You did get a key from an old man in the town right? (before the evangelist) Make sure you stop by the altar to read and recharge your faith.
 
Wow, I didn't know there was an old man with a key. And yes, I did get recharged!!! Thanks I'll give it a shot.
