Have you....?

Get A Life

As an old guy with a disability, I like gaming (computer is so outdated, I lag limp whether in and out of game)...

As I continue in a new pursuit...college level Biblical studies... I am curious. I have had some influence on drug addicted, post traumatic stress warriors from Iraq... so on... but the question arises...How effective was I for the Lord and the lost gamer that lives a thousand miles away?

Question: Have you led someone to Christ Jesus through gaming? or...
Were you brought to a saving knowledge of Jesus through a gaming contact?

Why?... I need to know if this is God's purpose in my life... I once witnessed daily in ER... now, I ask him what more can I do? We all have our call to duty according to our gifts from the Holy Spirit.

PS... I saw a sermon title of interest... "Do not trust someone without a limp"... centered on Jacob wrestling with the angel of the Lord... I limp and can boldly say, "You can trust me." I fought the LORD and the LORD won.

Thanks in advance for your replies... Peace in Christ be upon and within your heart.

I was neither saved because of gaming, nor am I aware of anyone being saved because of my interactions with them in gaming.

However, I know that my fellowship with other gamers has definitely helped my spiritual journey. I'm surrounded with other believers in various stages of their walks, and sometimes just having someone else around that I can ask for an opinion on how to read a specific passage (or what to read for instructions on how to deal with certain topics) has been a huge help to me.

I'd hope that I've also been that positive influence for someone else when they needed it, too. But I'm just me - I can't answer for anyone else.

I have never lead anyone to salvation thru gaming.

however, i have held multiple discipleship/mentoring relationships.

it is very important for the elder brothers to aid the younger on their walk.

By only judging saltations you cheapen the effects of reaching people for Christ in many levels.

Oh and for full disclosure, I have shared christ with a buddist, a gay man and a gay buddist (yes i live in the SF bay area) in the last three weeks.

Oh and by the way 2, I am connected to a ministry that uses the internet to share christ with thousands of people weekly.

I have no knowledge to the fact that I led one to Christ via a game, but I have witnessed when approached in game and in personal steam messages. Its is written that I'm a farmer at the same time I'm a fisherman. Fishing around for sinners all in a small room all within your home in game, to find drugs and alcohol abuse, language distortion, and homo sexuality. Hard to walk away from them when your heart is touched and you know who can help them.

I led my ex to christ over a game, where we first met... They were a messianiac jew, and believed in jesus, but had never heard about asking jesus into their heart, and I led them through prayer to do so... Also, I am mentoring my current partner, who is not a christian, but is seeking... And I would really appreciate any prayer you all could spare for him in recieving the holy spirit... Also, I have alot of friends in the gay community, and it is fully possible to be a christian and a member of the gay community... Homosexuality is just another sin. It does not seperate you from christ any more than any other sin, it is just more rare for them to accept christ... Especially if they are like most of my friends, and so called christians have judged them and treated them like a pile of dirt because of their sins.

I dont think I have led anyone to salvation through the internet or game, however I do believe because of meeting people and praying for them affected their offline activities. A friend of mine in canada after a few years being outside the faith, and after 2 years of praying for him, he came back and re-dedicated his life. and yes i met him through gaming.

like you said we all have our calls but no one can really tell us what that is. Being led in the spirit in our actions and knowing if our actions Glorify God are the first steps. Thats really cool you did daily stuff in the ER and that might be a foundational building block to move in ministry in public places, or you can start running LAN events with gospel messages and live christian music or any number of things since our God is a big God. He can move in any way he wishes and nothing is impossible, therefor our potential for Christ is without limit in how we can reach people.

Hi

I am a part of a gaming clan that focuses on witnessing in game. While I would love to lead someone to Christ in game, my biggest influence on winning souls for Christ seems to be the 5 year olds I coach in Upward Basketball, but I digress. While playing if we have the chance to witness either to believers or non-believers, we stop playing and focus on the conversation. We may not lead someone to Christ, but we do plant seeds.

Heh. My PC is pretty old too, but I choose to use it, as I am a game addict. (Till the end of this year, of course)

I'm not sure if this is right to say, but someone did taught me Christianity through gaming, specifically, Starcraft.

He was a Christian and a Leader of a clan, and I was interested about, "What are Christians?"

Long story short; I am a non-christian.

I believe I have posted my life story long ago, if I can find it.

Actually, I'd have to say, the Clans that I was in, they were allied to this forum. So technically, it was everyone that taught me about Christianity and other religious stuff.

OK. Looking through pages and pages of my threads, the only thing close to, were my standards.

Here are points:

- I briefly was a Christian.
- I have a tendency to curse.
- I don't curse to God/Jesus, since God/Jesus is not the one giving me problems.
- I believe there is a God, though, I do not accept God/Jesus gift.
- I respect to what Christians are/believe, though, I'm a silent type, so I don't say much about it.
- I get angry or/and I have grudges, against some or/and most of you.

Atheist -> Non-Believer -> Believer -> Christian -> Non-Christian.

I was saved, but that was long ago, unfortunately. :\

Note: Lists of Belief may be erratic/misplaced.
